Power unplugs on laptop, black screen, computer still running

Hello,
I have a Toshiba Satellite M100 laptop
and lately i ve been having trouble with my power cable. everytime i move the laptop, it stops charging, and i have to move the power cable around in order to get it to start charging again.
But lately, once it stops charging even if it's for a moment until i wiggle it, it gives me a black screen.
I am under the impression that the computer is still working , but i am not really surely because i immidiately remove the battery and restart the computer.
Please help me fix this problem as it is very annoying and time consuming.
Thanks

It's a common trouble for the power cord from the adapter to break inside the insulation near the plug. This is because of frequent flexing of the cord near the plug. When this happens you'll see the power light on the computer go out, and wiggling the cord sometimes gets it going again. Without the power input, the battery doesn't charge and the laptop won't stay running.

This sounds like what's happening to your computer, and should be fixed by replacing the adapter. Generic replacements are available at reasonable prices from online vendors and at Radio Shack and big computer retailers. It's also possible to repair the adapter by cutting the cord back and soldering on a new plug if you or someone you know has the tools and skills.

Please take a moment to rate this solution if it's what you needed. Thanks for asking here!

Hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you? Friend if that is your problem that the power chord is loosening such time the laptop does'nt power. obviously friend the problem is in your power connector or power port. im sure that the wire is already disconnected. so to solve the problem if you know some electronic works try to solder the lead insde that connects your power chord.be careful in doing it be sure to unplug everything and check if it does'nt have as short circuit before you assemble it again. or if you dont want some risk you try to secure new power supply it will gve you new power cable, new pwer slot and great power supply. but of course it wl tke some expense. so try to select what would be the best for you. good luck hope i helped you.

When i turn onToshiba Satellite M100-JG2, get black screen, and hear 2 bee sounds, computer won't start.

Two beeps a generally a memory parity error.

Use a test utility like memtest86 to check it. Youll need another computer with a CDRW to create a test disk from an ISO.
Then boot the computer with the cd in and it should run from CD.

Toshiba M100 upgraded to Windows 7, i have just renewed the battery but i have a problem with th laptop not charging, info says it is plugged in but not charging, power adaptor is ok. the power charge...

Hello,

When you say you renewed the battery, does that mean you replaced the battery with a new one? If your system is not charging up, try a different wall outlet. If that does not work, try a new power cord and lastly, a new battery.

After you have ruled out these three pieces of hardware, and you still have the problem, you would want to contact Toshiba for repairs as you are left with a malfunction on the laptop itself. Alternatively, you can contact a local computer repair shop.

I have a toshiba satellite laptop the screen is black

Shutting the computer down could be done by holding the Power Switch down for 10 seconds, rather than unplug/no battery "solution". A blank screen is more often than not caused by the failure of the screen's backlight. Plugging an external monitor in the ext monitor port would verify the computer still works, and I am sure it does.

Toshiba Satelite M100 PC notebook wont start up windows XP

This sounds like a memory problem. Download and run memtest 86, it is a small iso file that you create a bootable cd from. Run this for at least one pass.

If the memory passes boot from your xp disk and choose R to get into the repair console. Once there type the following commands

fixboot
fixmbr

then try the install again. Hope this helps

Noise from power supply

Hello obs1,
It appears you have a faulty ground from where you plug into the power outlet. You may need to invest in a better surge protector or try another power outlet.

Toshiba laptop won't wake up from stand by or hibernate

I had the same problem on my Toshiba Satellite U305, struggling with it for the past 4 months and having to use Shutdown each time I was done using it. Very frustrating! Toshiba worked with me several weeks, telling me to re-install Vista and all the fixes, which took a lot of work backing up etc and this did not fix the problem. Today they finaly told me to try entering this special command and it fixed my problem. Maybe it will fix yours too.

Create a shortcut on the desktop and to make the shortcut, right click on the desktop, choose Create Shortcut, enter CMD.EXE where it asks you to "Enter the location of the item". This will create an icon on the desktop that looks like a mini-command prompt. Then on the desktop, RIGHT click on the CMD.EXE shortcut/icon you have created and select "Run as administrator". This will open a command prompt window. Here in the black-box with white letter window, enter the command "powercfg -h on" (without the quotes). Reboot and see if the problem is resolved. This fixed my Toshiba Satellite that had this problem.
