How to pair Motorola T4508 with Oregon Scientific TP391 ?

From what we can tell the TalkAbout T4508 is a non-USA version of the T4500. The T4508 operates in a frequency range from 409-410 MHz. Unlike the USA version which operates between 462-468 MHz.

And it looks like the TP391 operates around 466 MHz. User Guide: http://de.oregonscientific.com/ulimages/manuals2/tp391_EN.pdf

This being said, your radios might not be compatible.

Best regards.

Best regards.

How do I use my T4500 Motorola Talkabout?

Here is a link to the user guide for the T4500 radio: http://www.giantintl.com/radiopdfs/manuals/US/T4500.pdf

A few tips: Set your frequencies to be the same on both radios. Put your code and any special features on Zero or Off, until you feel comfortable with the use of the radio and are ready to turn them on.

Best regards.

How do I set the Qt filter?

Sorry, the TalkAbout T4500 does not have Qt filter capability. If you are using it with other radios which do have the Qt filter, it will need to be turned off in order to communicate with the T4500.

For your convenience here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T4500_User_Manual_E.pdf

One of my T4500 radios does the same thing. When I transmit or the radio is receiving, the interval is interrupted and it takes another 12 seconds to make a popping noise. Weird! I tried to post this as a comment but FixYa kicks out an error so apologies for posting it as a solution!

How to shut off beep

I'm not seeing where the T4500 has a roger beep. In the event you have a different TalkAbout radio, the Roger Beep is typically turned on or off by holding the PLUS button in while turning on the radio. Motorola Talkabout T5720

Hello kenyond,

The range that you can expect to see when using two-way radios is very dependent on local conditions. These radios are very line-of-sight dependent. Obstructions like mountains, hills, tall buildings, thick vegetation, and using the radio in a shielded environment such as inside of an automobile can block your line of sight and limit your effective communications range.

That “maximum 5 mile” advertised range is probably only practical in a situation where the user of one of the radios has some significant elevation (such as being on top of a tall hill) and therefore has increased line of sight. When communicating over relatively level ground that is clear of obstructions, you can probably expect a reliable communications range of about a mile.

Best Regards,
