Will not turn on or recognised by my computer

Hi. It sounds like you have an iPod Nano 3rd generation? First thing I would try to do is to disconnect the iPod from your computer (unless it already is), then hold down the Menu button on the iPod wheel (the upper space on it) followed by holding down the Selection button on the iPod wheel (the center button). After holding down these two buttons for 2-6 seconds, it should try to restart again. I would recommend trying to reconnect the iPod to your computer again after doing so, while iTunes is open on your computer.
Good luck, I hope it fixes your problem.

My screen is on language selection and does not let me scroll or anything i think its frozen.

Hi,

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, the steps to reset it vary by model.

  1. Toggle the Hold switch. To do this, slide the switch to Hold (an orange bar appears) and then slide it back (orange bar is hidden).
  2. Reset the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
    • If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    • If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect the iPod to a power source by either plugging it into an Apple iPod USB Power Adapter or directly into a computer's USB port.
  3. Let the iPod charge for at least 20 minutes. Note: If the iPod is connected to a computer, make sure the computer does not sleep, standby, or hibernate during the 20-minute charging period.
  4. After the iPod has charged for at least 20 minutes and while it is still connected to the power source, toggle the Hold switch again as in step 1.
  5. Try resetting the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
    • If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    • If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, try putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring.
  6. Try putting the iPod into disk mode.
    • While in disk mode, connect the iPod to iTunes and try to restore.
    • If the iPod is still not recognized by iTunes, the iPod should be serviced.
    Hope i helped you.
Thanks.

My ipod froze and has a green bar over song.

You just need to reset it, hold down the middle button and the "Menu" button for about 7-10 seconds, or until you see the Apple logo.
Hope this helps!

By "disabled" do you mean you have used the in-feature locking system on the ipod for protection?

For iTunes, Make sure you have the usb cables firmly attached to both the iPod and the computer. Go to:

1) Start bar on your computer
2) Look for "iTunes" in your programs
3) Click on "iTunes" to open it up.

If your iPod is connected to your computer, after about 20 seconds, iTunes should read your iPod and show it.

Also, if you have "disabled" it, it may just be as simple as resetting your iPod.

How to reset:

1) Move the "lock" on your ipod to locked position then quickly back to unlocked.
2) Hold then Menu and Center button down together till the Apple logo comes up. This should take only max 10 seconds.
3) It should return to the main menu on the iPod.

Hope I Helped, :-) Good luck. Don't worry, your father won't kill you, he might be disapointed, but definetly not that.
(I know from previous experience).

Ipod shows sad face

Aye, my friend had this exact problem before i came along :-)

First: Reset your iPod by quickly moving the lock to lock position then back to unlock position, then hold the menu and center button down till the apple logo comes up. Then you can release the menu and center buttons.

Second: Plug your iPod into a power supply, such as the apple AC adapter. Wait till it shows that its charging. Once it shows that, unplug it, reset your iPod once more, then plug back in.

Third: Keep your iPod plugged in after the second reset for about 15-20 minutes. Come back, unplug it, and use it and see if it continues. If still continuing, plug it back in till its fully charged, or the equivalent.

After that, If that doesnt fix it, try contacting Apple Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/.

Hope I helped!

Hi,
Your battery might be going out. If you are sure that your battery is OK, then go to iTunes and make sure that you can see your iTunes library.
  1. Go to the menu bar and click on Edit. Then click on Select all. All of your music will be selected and turn blue.
  2. Right Click anywhere in the music library.
  3. You will get a message that asks if you want to edit all of your music library. You will click 'Yes'.
  4. A new window will open. There will be 4 tabs. Pick the one that says Options. There you will see a slider to adjust the volume in all of your music. The slider will be set in the middle. You can slide it to the right to about 80-90.
  5. Close your window. iTunes will begin changing the volume on all of your music.
  6. When it is finished, plug in your iPod and see how much different it sounds. Turn down the volumn on your iPod until you can readjust it.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
Whatever you do, do not disconnect it when it is like that. Do a reset (hold the menu and play buttons until the screen goes black and then quickly disconnect it from the computer.

what you do now depends on what the iPod does after you disconnect if from the computer. If the screen comes on, then you are OK. If it comes back to the do not disconnect screen, do a reset again, and this time when the screen goes black, quickly hold down the play/pause key and the middle key. Hold them until you see a check mark and the words, 'disk mode'. Connect it to your computer while it is like this and restore it. Hope that helps.

Ipod lights up then goes out, then lights up again and repeats this cycle, no logo seen.

Try resetting it by holding down the menu button and the center button at the same time until the apple logo pops up. It could also be a problem that I had before where you update the firmware and then it starts acting wierd. What you need to do is try and load it into a soundock like bose or logitech and it helps to reset the ipod. Hope this helps you out.
