Question about Dell F3534 Touchpad

1 Answer

My touchpad will not scroll. I have an Alienware laptop with vista. It will scroll for a little while and then it just stops. I have played with the mouse settings but I can't seem to find the problem. It's probably something stupid I have overlooked

Just goto dell touchpad (the one that blinks in the task bar) and change the setting accordingly. Increase the scroll sensitivity, and it works like a charm.

Hey i do not know how this will play out since it is sooo difficult to use my touch pad. I have a Dell Inspiron w/Vista Basic since yesterday my touchpad will not function very well. I lick my finger...

  1. Click on the "Start" icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Select "Control Panel." Next select "Mouse" under "Hardware and Sound."
  2. Select the "Device Settings" tab from the dialog box now. You can see the touchpad for your Vista machine highlighted on this screen. Select "Settings."
  3. Read the information provided in the next dialog box. It gives you options for tapping your touchpad, using the buttons, scrolling, pointer motion and sensitivity.
  4. Make any changes you want from the various topics. When you make a change, click "Apply." Click "OK" when you finish making all your changes.

How do you enable a touch pad on a dell computer. The feature disappeared after my laptop was reloaded due to a virus

Two different ways to do it...
1. Use your function keys... Combination of the Fn key (next to the Alt Key) and one of your "F" keys, look on your F-Keys you will see icons.. Look for the Touchpad Icon

Then Press Fn and Corresponding F Key at the same time to Enable/Disable Touchpad...

Go to scroll to bottom of website's home page and look for: SUPPORT AND DRIVERS.... Click on the Text and It Will Then Ask You To CHoose ... LAPTOP, or Desktop, or Tablet etc.... You Choose LAPTOP..... THen Choose THe Model from the list, then choose the model number from the list and it will then take you to Your Laptops Drivers Page... Scroll Down and Find Your Touchpad Driver and Redownload it and install it....

How do i get the scroll on the side of my dell inspiron 1525 to work again?

You will need to go to the support section over at Dell and enter in your service tag from the bottom of the laptop. You then need to look in the "drivers" section and download the Dell Synaptics Touchpad drivers and install them. That should bring your scrolling area of the touchpad back to life.

The scroll zone in my touchpad is not working

You need to go to the Dell website and download the driver for your touchpad for the version of Windows that you are using. Depending on the age of your laptop and the version of Windows there may not be a driver for your touchpad. In that case you might need to use an external mouse instead.

Brand new dell xps laptop, touchpad will not scroll.

The Dell touchpad settings can be accessed in Vista by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse. If the box that appears when you open the mouse properties doesn't say anything about dell then you need to install the driver for the touchpad. To do this go to and then click "Enter a Tag", then enter your service tag, which can be found on the underside of your computer, into the box and click "Go". After selecting the operating system that is running on the machine click the little + icon next to "Imput Device Drivers" and once that expands download and install the one that says "Dell - Driver Applies to Touchpad / Pointing Stick". Once it is installed the computer may need to restart.

HP Pavilion DV5 touchpad not working

I have the same issue with mine, and i just got it three days ago. I cannot tell you how to fix it entirely since i believe it's a design flaw, but i can help you keep your touchpad working for longer.

If you have noticed, these laptops get quite hot. Also the cooling vents are at the bottom, so if you keep the laptop on a soft surface such as your bed, the vents are essentially blocked. When the touchpad gets too hot, it stops working.

So, how to keep it cool you may ask? For one, do not keep it on the bed while it is turned on. Secondly, ALWAYS keep the battery out when you are not using it, as it gets hot as well. Also, keeping the battery charged at 100% for extended periods of time wears it much faster than if you actually use it. Search for the web for "Li-Ion care", there is plenty of info. If you need to have some battery power available at all times, use the laptop on battery power until it reaches 60%, then plug the adapter back in, and unplug it again once it's fully charged and so on. This is still much better than keeping it at 100% all the time.

Btw, the reason why it momentarily starts working again when you reset the BIOS it's because it cools down a little when you do that, the system load while in the BIOS is almost zero.
