Hey anand,

Follow the steps in the link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

I would also recommend doing a scan using free software like superantispyware as slow pc can also mean infection of various kinds.

Rate if fixed

Thanks

When i start up my computer it freezes

vista requires certain specifications to run properly. If you are trying to run this on a computer which is too old then it will quite often stop responding.example you need 1Gig RAM or higher, etc.
viruses are also one of the causes why windows would run slow, you should try a registry cleaner to fix registry problems.

Very slow my computer vista..pls help me

Glad to HELP YOU!

I'd suggest you - FIRST OF ALL - to check if your SYSTEM is meeting the Vista requirements:
- 800 MHz processor
- 512 Mb of RAM (at least)
- DirectX 9 class graphic card
- 32 Mb of graphics memory.
If all above are met than you can also do (to SPEED UP your computer):
- defragment your hard drive
- remove all unused shortcuts and files from the desktop
- setup your system for NO ANIMATED WINDOWS and choose STABILITY from
START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS.

GOOD LUCK!

Vista is slow

The slowness of Vista depends on the components that you have for the computer. Did you buy your computer with Win Vista installed? If you upgraded your computer from XP to Vista, you have to make sure that it is covered by the system requirements of Vista.

If you have a brand new computer with Vista installed in it, then there could be a little glitch on the program. I've used different kinds of Vista (Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate) but none of them worked slow. If that's a brand new computer, I would suggest to contact the manufacturer or the reseller.

Have a great day!

Speed up my pc like new

Windows Vista was a very resource hungry operating system. I recommend a PC to run at least 2 Gigabytes of RAM on top of at least a 256 Megabyte or 512 Megabyte Graphics Card to be able to use it effectively. I have tested Windows 7 Beta and they have done ALOT when it comes to better performance. I ran Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop with 2 GB of RAM and a 256 MB Graphics card and it was kinda slow, I am now running Windows 7 Ultimate Beta and it is TONS faster. Vista was pretty much built to be slow, no questions about it.

Windows vista

Windows Vista is the new operative system distributed from Microsoft, following the previous release of Windows XP.

An operative system is the interface between the user (you ) and the computer, that allows you to manage computer hardware resources and peripheral, and manage processes (software) running on your computer.

From the user point of view The operative syste is the environment where you run applications, manage connected devices, storing files and starting and stopping programs.

Vista is the latest OS released from Microsoft. It has a powerful interface, but it can be slow running on old computers. On vista you can also have some compatibility problem when you try to install old devices built for XP, such as printers, scanners etc.

Slow performance - Frequent Hanging of system

Do you run the Aero them with the glass windows effects etc. and have the windows sidebar running? I have found that this tends to slow down my computer a lot.

To turn off Aero:
  1. Right click on an empty area of the desktop
  2. click personalize
  3. click window colour and appearance
  4. select colour scheme:"windows vista basic"
  5. click ok
To turn off sidebar:
  1. go to start-> control panel
  2. Click windows sidebar
  3. deselect "start sidebar when windows starts"
  4. click ok
  5. on the task bar right click the windows sidebar icon
  6. click close
