I have a john deer it is 5 yrs old just bought a new battery it worked fine kid rode all day went to charge it and the light stays green all the time put battery back in john deer she rode 2 short rides and the battery died tried to charge but the light indicates it is charged do chargers go bad

Could be several things.  Your battery could be bad. After not being charged for a while, they do go bad- often. You may want to try a new battery along with your new charger.  You could also have a switch /connection problem. If you get a new battery and it still doesnt work, you may want to check the switches and wiring. It is not uncommon for the switch to go bad especially if it had been stored outside.

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show
any volts, lift up one side of the blue plastic housing on the top and verify that both the positive and negative wires are plugged in
