If you have your own wincd product key you can borrow a cd to use.
In the mean time do a virus scan again remove infected files
then do a disk defrag.

If you wish to use the cd key affixed to the bottom of your unit you'll need a copy of XP Pro OEM (not retail) otherwise you can do a fresh install from a retail copy of XP Home and simply reinstall the OS as prompted by the setup, download the driver files for your machine and boot her up.

Possible corrupt operating system. The cause of corrupt operating system is Windows file corrupted or virus infected Windows.

Solution corrupt Windows files:
1. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Restore (restore to the date when the OS is still normal)
2. START - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Recovery Options - System Image Recovery (restore using a backup system that you created)

Solution files corrupted due to virus infected windows
Update anti-virus and virus scan (if the virus is detected, the primary action = repair, secondary action = quarantine). Then repair the operating system with System Restore or System Recovery Options.
Note:
If the operating system infected with virus (virus infected not long ago), the best solution is to use System Restore. Restore to a date when the windows are still normal.

My acer aspire one zg5 got the blue screen. after loading the windows, it will stop then flash the blue screen then restart again and again. what will i do? somebody say my netbook needs to reformat. but i...

Follow these steps to fix a Blue Screen in Safe Mode

Once booting start, select "Safe Mode" from the boot menu.

Scan your hard drive by running your antivirus software . If the program locates an infection, move it to your vault or follow the on-screen instructions. After program completion, if a virus was removed, attempt to reboot your computer and see if this clears up the problem. If not, restart your computer in safe mode.

Restore your computer to a previous point. Click on the "Start" button. Select "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and finally "System Restore". Choose a restore point on or before the last day your computer worked without error. Finally Reboot your computer to see if it loads correctly.

How to reformat my Acer Aspire 1480z. My laptop was infected by a virus

If it is a bad virus that won't let you do anything on the computer, follow the instructions on this link. If you can install programs on your computer, follow only steps 7 and 8 from the above link.

To do a clean Windows install, put in the Windows CD and press any key to boot from CD on start up then follow the prompts to install Windows. Right before choosing where to install it, opt to format the drive so that you have a clean install.

Another option is to use the restoration disc that came with your laptop and restore the computer to the factory settings. To do this, put the CD in and on the boot up screen press the F key showed on the bottom of the screen for System Restore.

My computer all of a sudden has like 20 viruses, i've tried to install anti viruses software but it never lets me because it says it has been infected??

If that is the case you have to back up all your important files for you will have to reinstall or reformat your whole hard drive back to its original state If you have the operating system cd installation disc you may use that to reformat your computer.

only if your computer came pre-installed with a recovery partition, and even that may be infected.

I have an Acer laptop to work on that has numerous viruses on it and I was wondering if Acer D2D recovery will remove them?

system restore vs system recovery:

a system restore will restore the system to a set point in time. this will not remove viruses.

a system recovery will reinstall windows to its original factory state by utilizing a recovery partition. this will remove viruses. however, it will also remove any data and software that has been installed on the system.

back up if needed but keep in mind that you could potentially be backing up viruses. especially if the user wants to back up music that was gotten from a peer to peer site such as limewire. this downloads are typically ripe with infections so do so at your own risk.

it is not possible to back up software.

Want to know the steps to reformat Toshiba - Satellite Pro

Your data - In order to ensure don't copy any infected data backup as few executables as possible. BEFORE restoring your data make sure you have antivirus installed and up to date. Perform a full scan after copying the data back to your lt. Put in the recovery disk and restart your computer. Look for a prompt on the screen to "boot from disk" while it is booting. Press the key it says to press and follow the directions from there. If there isn't a prompt to boot from disk try pressing Alt and F10 while it boots.

You responded to my post about removing internal batter for Toshiba Sat.

No dont take the battery out. try this. This works on laptops running XP and Vista.

Turn on the laptop, as soon as you turn it on press F8, this will take you to the system install function saved on a hidden drive on your pc.

Once there it will ask you if you want to do a recovery which pretty much sets the computer to settings for an earlier time period or a system restore. THe restore will reformat the hard drive and reinstall the the original software.

Make sure you pick the system restore function to wipe thedrive. It will ask you if u are sure and it will say something about it being a destructive, again that just means that you will have a factory reset computer again, just like new.

Let me know if i can help you thru

Dell Latitude D600 - Reformat wihout using a cd rom

Since the virus has taken it's toll, the F11 built in restore won't work. You will have to acquire an operating system disc in order to fix your problem. Unfortunately, there is no other way around it.
