One of my Motorola T4500 walkie talkies has a ghost inside it....

I have a pair of Motorola Talkabout T4500 walkie talkies...One of them transmits a click (transmit) noise every 20 seconds or so....just enough to irritate you...The sound is one that would be made if it was "keyed up" but I have tried every channel and still hear that "click"....Just one the one, not the other.... I have even changed the batteries on both...Please somebody help me, beacause I know this can't be normal...It will scare off all the deer..lol.....David

Moisture and oxidation on the circuit board will create noise during transmission. You may remove the cover and wipe around microphone and the circuit.Ensure its dry. Cover it back and test.

I have a set of Motorola T5720 walkie Talkies. I cannot determine if one of them is not receiving or the other is not transmitting.

One radio works properly, the other can receive. I assume there are more than two by the question. Check and then rotate you batteries, mark on the working unit battery that it is GOOD. Transmit takes a great deal more power than receiving. Batteries, even un-used only last 18-24 months typically. If no joy, then check your programming but I think that is unlikely. It really sounds like a power/battery issue.

Here is a link to the user guide, choose your model from the pulldown: http://shop.giantintl.com/Manuals.asp

Follow the instructions for programming the frequency and code, making all 4 of your radios match one another. Turn off any other special features, and only add them back in once you have the radios functioning together.

Best regards.

One of my T4500 radios does the same thing. When I transmit or the radio is receiving, the interval is interrupted and it takes another 12 seconds to make a popping noise. Weird! I tried to post this as a comment but FixYa kicks out an error so apologies for posting it as a solution!

Here is a copy of the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T4500_User_Manual_E.pdf

You will need to program the frequency, code and Qt filter (if any) to match one another. For basic operation choose a frequency number and then set your code and Qt filter (if any) to off (zero).

Best regards.
