Site is blocked

You\'ll find many products for blocking websites.

Some work for the general user who wants to block spammers
while others are for parents who want to block harmful content from their
children.

Both types of products vary in price and sometimes lead to
more headaches by blocking the content you do want to see.

Before you take that step, try these ideas for blocking
websites easily and for free.

Allow Internet Explorer to block websites by going to "Internet
Options" under "Tools."

Select the "Content" button and go to
"Content Advisor."

Enable Content Advisor by clicking the button and adding a
supervisor\'s password.

If you don\'t use a password, anyone can go into Internet
Explorer and unblock websites.

Content Advisor allows you to use settings in four areas:
ratings, approved sites, general and advanced.

Focus on "ratings" and "approved sites"
to block websites.

Adjust the slider under ratings for language, nudity,
and violence.

You have five choices that range from "None" to
"Explicit."

The ratings option only affects some pages with many
websites slipping under the radar.

Go to the next step to block specific websites from Content
Advisor.

Click on the "Approved Sites" tab to add a
website.

Click "Never" to block the website.

Select "OK."

Edit host files when using the Content Advisor isn\'t
enough.

Your host files stores information that includes files to
block. Click "Start" and "Run."

Type in the following to get to the host commands from
Windows XP: C:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts.

Scroll to the bottom of the notepad window where you
should find the line "127.0.0.1."

Push your enter key and type in the block command of
127.0.0.1 followed by the website.

For example, to block MySpace, you would type 127.0.0.1
myspace.com.

Add additional websites to block by adding one number to
the last number in the internal ip before the website address.

For example, the next one would be 127.0.02.

When you are finished, save the file and exit.

How can active my system?

In some cases, say when you're building and testing a webpage locally (Local Machine Zone), you may still see the Information Bar when the web page executes any script, initiates a Pop-up windows, or a download. For testing purposes, one needs to follow any of these workarounds:

  • Rename the .HTM file to .HTA (Example.. Index.HTM to Index.HTA and test the file locally). HTA files have more privileges than the HTM files, can run active content on Local Machine by default.

    -or-

  • add the Mark Of The Web code such as <!-- saved from url=(0023)http://www.contoso.com/ --> to a Web page, where the (0023) value is the string length of your URL that follows it and Contoso is the name of your Web site.

The above is an extract from Local Machine Zone Lockdown - Developer Implications. See page for more information about the two workarounds above.
To totally disable the Local Machine Zone restriction (for running Active Content) (not recommended, though) for valid reasons, read below:
To allow any Web site to run scripts and ActiveX controls on your computer:
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Security section of the list. Select the Allow active content to run in files on My Computer check box, and then click OK.

lmzlock_disable.jpg
To accomplish this via the Registry, modify the following registry value:
HKCU \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main \ FeatureControl \ FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_LOCKDOWN
In the right-pane, create a new REG_DWORD named iexplore.exe and set it to 0
Values:
0 - Allows a Web page to run active content in your computer
1 - Disallows a Web page from running active content in your computer
To allow any CD to run scripts and ActiveX controls on your computer:
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Security section of the list. Select the Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer check box, and then click OK.

I have A problem with keyboard it takes to long to responed to my key stroks since i installed win7

On this Dell, did you run the upgrade advisor before you performed the upgrade? The memory requirements and the CPU requirements for Windows 7 are quite different (I know I have a Dell 1525 from XP to Vista and it failed the Windows 7 upgrade advisor) . I run Windows 7 on a spanking new Lenovo intel core i7 enhanced experienced, and I still experience similar problems to that you describe.

The solution is to separate those of 64 bit and that many programs require being run in 'Windows XX' mode - which you will find under the Control Panel, under 'Run Programs made for Previous Versions of Windows.

This may alleviate some of your troubles with the 'fade to white' and lack of response from the keyboard. Also, Don't 'pin to the start-uo menu any unneeded programs that are not tailored for Windows 7. That will create the same problem you described as well.

Please be sure to write back to advise if any of these solutions resolved your problems, or if you require further help. That's why I answer these!! Have a terrific day!

I like to install windows7 what i need to do?is

So far Windows 7 is turning out to be not only the fastest booting operating system but the most stable and user freindly...it is also very good at diagnosing its problems and fixing them. Download and run the Windows & advisor tool. This will scan your system and let you know if you have any possible trouble spots such as unsupported hardware or software. Now, drivers for devices are still not 100%, but if your machine originally came with the Vista Operating system then more than likely you are not going to experience any problems with the upgrade, Windows 7 is an upgrade to this and not a clean install.....but if you have XP, then you need to save your files to an external drive because Windows 7 cannot be upgraded from XP, it will do a format and clean install on your computer. There is a chance it will recover all your old XP files and programs and put them in a folder called "old windows", it will appear on your "C" drive. You can access your documents, pictures, music, etc....but programs may not run properly from that folder because there are no registery entries for them. Below is the Windows 7 advisor link......
