Ok, your question is about the stylus 1010 digital camera, right?
Well, it's not a video camera. It doesn't take videos.

I double checked the manual to make sure I was right. You can find it here if you want to check it.

Let me know with a comment if you need any further help. I'm sorry it's not what you wanted to hear, but don't let it stop you from rating my solution a fixya. I would appreciate it.

I forgot to mention that videos are not the same as movies. Movies on this camera are recorded to a DVD disk. If there is no disk inserted, then they are not kept.

    Hi Dino,

Did you try to read the disk in your computer yet? Leave me a comment and we'll get it worked out. Troubleshooting a problem can be alot of trial and error.

Use an external card reader to remove the photos as well as videos else browse/explore more throughly every folders for the videos to get it on ur computer. Else if it had come with any software for extracting photos n videos u might as well use that.

Video no longer transferable to PC

One of the most important things for transfering files from a camera to a computer is the software installed on the computer. Perhaps you did forget you installed this when your camera was new. The software came with the camera.
Try reinstalling the software that came with you camera, or us an external memory card reader. You don't need extra software to transfer the file from the card to your computer, but you still need software to play the video. You also could try to install a free video player like gom player. There are more free players. There are so many different video formats, so chose one that can play lots of different video formats, if you don't have the Sony CD or DVD.

You didn't say what kind of computer you have. If it's a Mac, you won't be able to download any AVCHD movies. If it's a PC, you will need Photofunstudio. If you still have trouble downloading, try creating a folder on your desktop and then just drag and drop the videos into the folder. Once there, you can send them to photofunstudio. If you still have problems, consider shooting in Motion JPEG instead of AVCHD.

The LCD is illuminated. When you press the shutter button, do you move the camera at the same time? Try taking a couple of shots while the camera is on a firm surface or a tripod to see if that makes a difference. Why are you using your printer to transfer pictures to your computer? Use a separate card reader like the one pictured below and then you can download your videos to a separate folder you create on your desktop. typrice_58.jpg

Transferring video from a digital camera

I had a similar problem with my Canon Elura 100 camcorder when I tried to transfer the video. It turned out that my computer has some codex installed that was conflicting with the download of the video. So I went to another computer that I was sure had no codex files installed, and had no problem downloading the videos.

Hi Tanya

It sounds like something was corrupted when you transferred your pictures to the computer.

If you have all the pictures safely on your computer, it will be ok to reformat the memory card and then just copy and paste the pictures back to the card.

Insert the card in your card reader, go to My Computer, you should be able to see the card as a removable drive. You can click and open it just like a folder and see what is on the card.

I would also back up the pictures to an external drive or dvd so they are extra safe!

Transferring PC videos TO a Sony Cybershot?

It probably won't work but here is something to try: Make a short video clip with the camera. Then look at the memory stick with the computer to find out the name of the video and what folder it is in. If the camera makes .avi videos, you will have to convert your home videos to the .avi format. Then rename the video to a name similar to the one the camera made. i.e. If the camera named its video Vid00023.avi, then you should rename you home video to something like Vid00034.avi. Then put your video in the exact same folder where the camera put its video. That will give it a chance to be recognized by the camera. But I doubt it will play in the camera.
