My Maytag Neptune dryer stopped drying. There is no heat coming out. We replaced the heating element and still nothing. What else could it be?

Hello there and welcome to fixya
Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. To determine if the heating element is burned out, watch the part testing video at the bottom of this page. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) To determine if the thermal fuse has blown out,
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Hi,
This could be a bad timer. Try changing setting on timer and truing it on. One thing for sure you have a dead short... This could be the timer or the motor or it could be a wire inside the cabinet shorted out... There should be 2 clips on the top front of machine that hold the top douwn use a putty knife or other thin but stiff object to pust in on those clips while pulling up on top at the same time then you can fold the top back out of the way and just look for anything unsuual. Burnt/ broken wires loose wires etc... The front will need to be removed to observe motor area... Usually 2 screw at top left and right the pullout and up... Smell around the motor for that burned rubber smell.
Please let me know if I can do anything else to help

How do i remove the drum on a maytag top-loading washer.MAV 7000aww

If you want to remove the drum of your maytag wahser follow this procedure:
  1. Disconnect the power supply to the Maytag dryer by unplugging it from the wall outlet.
  2. Use a screwdriver to remove the three screws located at the top of the control console.
  3. Pull the control console forward to release the tabs that hold it to the Maytag dryer top. Maneuver the control panel out of your way without disconnecting any wires.
  4. Use a putty knife inserted between the top and front panel to disengage the retaining clips that secure the top panel of the Maytag dryer. Lift the top panel up, and remove it from the dryer.
  5. Use needle nose pliers to remove the wires from the door switch terminals. The door switch is located just inside the front right corner. Grasp the wire leads with the pliers and pull them off the terminals.
  6. Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screws that hold the front and side panels together on the Maytag dryer. Lift the front panel up and out of the work area.
  7. Use a screwdriver to remove the Maytag dryer drum light lens screw. Press the locking tabs on the light socket, and remove it from the cavity of the drum.
  8. Use a socket wrench to remove the four retaining bolts that secure the drum bulkhead to the sides of the Maytag dryer.
  9. Reach your hand beside the drum and the motor, and push the idler pulley forward to release tension on the belt. Make notes of how the belt is routed on the pulleys, and then remove the belt from the motor pulley and idler pulley.
  10. Grab the belt with one hand, and the Maytag dryer drum with the other. Pull the drum out of the front of the dryer.

What caused wires to be burnt at clips that connects to part

that's your cycling thermostat and it's bad also check continuity of your thermal fuse (usually off white and looks like a tilted square) and check your high limit thermostat (closest to the heat element) and also check that the heat element is not broken any place throughout the coil of it. While you have it apart clean out the build up of lint everywhere.

Dryer tumbles won't heat

The problem could be related to one of the following; Not enough power from the house, a bad or broken heating element, a bad thermal fuse, or a brake in the wiring.

Solution
Check the house voltage for 220-240
Do a continuity test on the heating element.
Do OHM reading on thermal fuse.
Check wiring to heating element.
