Maytag Dryer MDE3706AYW has a burnt black wire, did the wire just have a bad day or do I need to replace the heating element and the wire?

All should be good. I think the element had run on due to a bad hi-limit thermostat that you said you replaced.

Maytag dryer tumbles and heats but will run only 10-20 seconds before shutting off.

is there an berrrrrr noise for 1 or 2 seconds when starting the dryer? this sound is a bad motor. another cause is loose power cord where it attaches to the dryer. 3rd is aluminum wiring from your breaker to the dryer outlet. these screws that hold the wiring at the breaker and outlet can loosen and should be tightened. give me some feed back so i can help.

Maytag MCG8000AWW gas dryer no heat

The ignitor may be bad you can chek to see if there is 110volts when the dryer is allin by unplugging the wire to the ignitor and putting using a multimeter to chek for voltage at the wires. If there is power to the ignitor and the ignitor is not glowing up then the ignitor is probably bad replace the ignitor.

I have a maytag model 747g dryer. I dryer tumbles

The heating element is burnt out. Unplug the dryer. Follow the wires from the control panel. They will go to the heating element. The element is probably held in by anywhere from 2 to 6 screws. Remove the screws and you should be able to pull out the element. The element is coiled wire that heats up when power is applied. If you look closely you can probably see a break in it. To get a replacement you will need the model number which will be on a metal plate either on the back of the dryer or inside the dryer door. Take the old part with you so you can do a comparison and make sure you get the right part.

The dryer will not tumble

do you hear any humming noise? does the heat come on?....no noise. most likely is a thermal fuse....small white fuse usually with two blue wires. humming means broken belt, bad motor or something stuck in blower wheel.

What caused wires to be burnt at clips that connects to part

that's your cycling thermostat and it's bad also check continuity of your thermal fuse (usually off white and looks like a tilted square) and check your high limit thermostat (closest to the heat element) and also check that the heat element is not broken any place throughout the coil of it. While you have it apart clean out the build up of lint everywhere.

Dryer spins but no heat

Did you check the power coard where it connects to the dryer? Start at the source. Make sure that you have at least 110v on each line. The dryer will tumble on 110v but requires 220v to heat. If you have 220v then check the t-stat and thermal cut-out on the blower. Check all wires for loose or burnt terminals. If all that is good it may be a bad motor or timer/control. I'm happy that you have a meter.
Good luck.
