Question about Gateway MX8711 Notebook

My sony vaio cr35 synaptics touchpad becomes unable to scroll if the button are enable, it happen just after a fresh recovery to the factory setting. if i disable the button, then the scroll comes back again. seems like the 2 functions doesn't not get well on each other but that's should not happen as this is factory installed driver which should be working. the lappy comes with vista home premium and all the driver was installed automaticly during the recovery process. I haven't installed anything yet, so far it's all pre-installed program from sony. please help !! Tomy Bali

Find this thread from 2009, i've still using my Vaio cr35 for 5-12 hours everyday and it still going strong December 2012! So it is almost 4 years already.
Now that's only time can proof for sony product quality: two thumbs up!
Only i have downgrade the OS from windows vista home premium to windows xp and upgraded the hdd to wd scorpio black 500gb which makes it blazing fast. It boots up in 30 seconds and only 1 minute to restart and ready to use.

However the only cons is still the touchpad problems, well i think i will have to live with that as i still couldn't find the synaptics driver which works as it should. I use the generic driver of windows xp instead. I have a bluetooth mouse so i don't get to use the touchpad a lot anyway.

How do i scroll with touchpad in sony vaio vpccw21fx

Step 1:
The scrolling feature on a laptop touchpad can take some getting used to, which causes some users to disable the feature. Whether scrolling was intentionally turned off or never enabled on the laptop, it can easily be turned on from the "Mouse Properties" menu.

Click "Start" (or the Windows logo button in Vista and Windows 7) and select "Control Panel." Select "Classic View" in Vista if not already displayed. Double click "Mouse." You may also access "Mouse Properties" in Vista and Windows 7 by clicking the Windows logo and typing "Mouse" in the search box. Press "Enter," then click "Mouse" when the search is finished. Select the "Hardware" tab. Select the touchpad and click "Properties." Click "Change Settings" if the settings aren't displayed. Click the "Device Settings" tab in Windows 7 and select the touchpad. Click "Settings." Click "Virtual Scrolling" in the touchpad properties window. Click the boxes next to each "Enable Scrolling" box and click "OK." Scrolling is now turned on for your touchpad.

What is the multi gesture option available on my acer aspire timeline 4820tg and how do i switch it on or off . plz help me regarding this. regards ankit

The 4820TG's multi-gesture touchpad executes two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom and rotate functions very well. The touchpad is a huge improvement from previous Acer touchpads. The touchpad is large and very responsive. The single touchpad button is comfortable to use and gentle to press. Multi-touch gestures and scrolling works well while surfing the Internet. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended to lower the sensitivity for "PalmCheck" in the Synaptics software to enable usage of the keyboard and touchpad at the same time. Enable/Disable and other touchpad settings can be made using Mouse Properties (from contril panel) and Synaptics Tab.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solution if I could have been of any help!

Hi sheki_68,

If you have disabled the Scrolling Feature of the Touchpad, you will need to re-enable for the function to work correctly. You can enable the Touchpad Setting from the Control Panel, Mouse Options.
  1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel .
  2. In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound .
  3. In the Hardware and Sound window, click Mouse .
  4. In the Mouse Properties window, click the Function tab.
  5. To enable the Scroll function, click to check the box next to Use Scroll Function.
  6. Click the OK button and then close the Hardware and Sound window.
This should re-enable the Scrolling Feature of the Touchpad. If the Function is not available in the Mouse Properties window, you may need to re-install the Touchpad Driver in the Computer to fix it.

Good Luck!

Hope this helps.

Please post back if you require further assistance.

I am using my phone to ask this question.

Hello,

the touch pad is usually controlled by synaptic.

To turn it on back, press start menu from your key board and scroll to control panel.

From control panel, use the tab button to select the icons on control panel and go to mouse.

From mouse, use your keyboard to control to device settings.

From device settings, you would see synaptics touch pad, then press enable and that's all.

You touch pad would then be enabled again.

All the best.

tried to press on Fn+ F9 key on your keyboard. that will enable your touchpad. Also, checked on synaptic configuration. Synaptic is the touchpad driver on most laptop. You can go to Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings > Choose your touchpad device > Settings > Tapping
