Staples don't drive deep enough. How do I adjust depth.

Often staple is left protruding out 1/8" or so. Lost manual, and don't know if dial on top is designed to adjust depth setting . Thanks, Robert

Go to website and type in tre550 and you will find a copy of a PDF instruction. It is very limited. They also have a tool tips area.

For some reason, some of my solution didn't show up in my first answer. The dial on the top is the depth setting. Often, the depth setting is knocked off the selected setting while handling the tool. The best bet is to drive the staple/brad in as far as you can and then use a good old fashioned hammer to seal the deal.

What staples does a black and decker electric stapler 9700 take and where can I buy them?

Hi Stephen,
Of course the manual states to use their staples for best results.
However it does at least state it is designed for a wide variety.
Most hardware stores have a range of staples to choose from.
Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Lowes etc. Try a chisel point this may help penetrate the wood deep enough. All staples are not made the same. So again trial and error may be the quickest route. Fortunately you can purchase small boxes for your testing.
The manual for this stapler is here:
(Page 2 talks about the staples to use.)

Good luck and hope this helps!

Why is my Stanley TRE 500 locking up after stapling a short time. What is the + and - on top for? I have lost my manual.

Make sure you are using the right staples for it. This will prevent lockups. You can also try spraying the staple track with a dry silicone lubricant.

The Plus and Minus is to set the strike pressure. Low for cork board, high for oak paneling.

Here is the manual, the TRE550 is close enough.

How to adjust depth on bostich mk111fs

There is no depth adjustment on this tool -
If the staples are going too deep - most likely the piston (#17) has threaded off the driver inside the tool, you have a broken piston bumper (#62) inside, or the teflon foot pad (#56) on the bottom of the tool is the wrong thickness for the flooring you are using.
If the staples are not driving far enough - most likely you have a broken / chipped driver blade (#21) or the teflon foot pad (#56) on the bottom of the tool is the wrong thickness for the flooring you are using.

Our staples won't go all the way through . We

You didn't list the make and model of your stapler but if it's not driving the staples flush with the surface here are some possible causes:
1. The wood; If you are driving long staples into hardwood or knotty lumber you may have to use shorter staples to see how they set.
2. Stapler settings; Turning the air pressure up isn't the answer to driving staples deeper, it is only harder on the stapler. Most staplers work in the 90 to 120 psi range. The lower pressure you use the longer your stapler will last. Check/adjust the depth of drive control on the stapler to determine where the top of the staple is driven to.
3. Broke stapler; If it's not driving them to the proper depth but the level they are driven to is consistant, you may have a damaged piston o-ring/seal or the end of the driver is broken off. You'll have to go into the gun or take it to a service center to check these things.

Why does my Auto Feed Screwdriver not screw deep enough?

What model auto-feed screwdriver do you have? All of the auto-feed drivers I have worked on have an adjustable nose peice that has to be set to the length of the screw so they will start properly and drive correctly. They also have a fine tune adjustment wheel somehwere on the tool so you can set the screw to be anywhere from just below the surface (dimpled) or flush or slightly above the surface (proud). This is all in relation to the surface the nose peice is touching. The driver is designed to release the bit when the screw has reached the depth set by the adjustment wheel so it doesn't strip out the head of the screw. I don't know of any that would let you set it so the screw would go through the plasterboard (drywall) and end up flush in the wood.

Hi,
The default paper selection/ size in MS Word is 'letter'. you may have designed the document on letter size and while printing you have A4 size paper in the printer.
So, Make sure that you design the document on the same paper size (such as A4, which is commonly used). Secondly, while printing don't print the document directly. From the Print dialogue option choose the exact paper size and un-check (de-select) any option of paper resizing (if available). You will have the documents printed exactly as designed.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

My stanley tre500 shoots like a semi automatic weapon. Is it adjustable? Thanks Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Do you mean it rapid fires, or do you mean fires the staples to deep?
If it fires too deep, the adjustment for that is on the back of the gun. The + and - give more/less depth. Adjust it towards the - direction to get the brad/staple to no penetrate as far.

Thanks,

Handie Andie

I am having problems getting the staple to go all the way in -- recovering dining room chair seats. I have lost the manual -- does the dial with + and - have something to do with it? Stanley TRE500...

Hi Rita,

Yes, the + and - adjusts the depth of the staple. You should check the setting periodically as it has a tendency to move as you handle the stapler.
Also, holding the nose of the staple flush and steady on the surface helps to drive them to the proper depth.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up, keeps me working... Thanks,
