what operating system are you using( Windows XP/ VISTA etc etc) and what level of security do you have on your router and on your PC/ Laptop - there maybe a conflict there that is causing you to have limited connectivity - ensure they have the same levels of security set

If you are using an intel wireless card (such as the default wirelesscard coming with Lenovo laptops) you can download an "Intel WirelessConnection Utility" from the following intel download centre atfollowing location. Select appropriate operating system and downloadtype as "Software Applications" to download the connection utility. Install it.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+WiFi+Products&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+PRO%2fWireless+3945ABG+Network+Connection&ProdId=2259&LineId=1784&FamilyId=1783

This tool from intel detects the available wifi networks and collectsthe authentication details and automatically connects when the networkdisconnects due to signal dropping.

You can think of changing the desktop/laptop network to "private"instead of "public" to avoid frequent signal dropping. Try to work froma place which is close to the router so tat the wifi signal is strong.

It could just be a problem with the modem or Internet. The error your are getting for DSL is basically a prompt that you are not connected to the Internet. Try focusing on the hardware first...

My desk top icons has dissapeared when i restore my pc what can i do to show my desk top?

well, if you are able to see your taskbar but not the desktop icons than right click on desktop screen and click on view and select show desktop icons.

and if you don't see anything on your screen than press (ctrl + shift + escape) together, it will open up a task manager, then click on file at the top and click new task, type explorer.exe and click okey.. this will help you in getting your icons back on your desktop screen.

I have a D-Link DIR-615, and the laptop says the Signal is Excellent, but it won't connect and it says Limited or no connectivity. Is the wireless symbol supposed to be steady on the router or is it...

Hi,

You have not configured the DHCP or manually allotted IP address to the system or possibly a wrong IP address. This is the reason for limited connectivity.

The light blinks when it scans for the wireless devices nearby and as well as for data transfer.

You can get a regular wireless G broadband router (WRT54G) But you must also check if your sprint modem has an ethernet port so that you will be able to connect the router to it.

Limited or no connectivity

make sure wireless switch on laptop is on. since you are using XP, type services.msc on the run box, on the services local page go to wireless zero configuration, check if it has started automatically. then go to your wireless area connection, r. click then view available wireless networks. you shall see your 2wire network as 2wirexxx, where xxx stands for the last 3 nos. of your modem's serial no. connect to that network, it will ask you to enter the wireless key or passphrase. now type in the default wep key, that is the 10-digit nos. at the bottom of your 2wire modem right below the sn 7 it is enclosed in brackets. if you still has limited or no connectivity, check the modem if it is set to use default wep-open encryption. it is done by going to homeportal/management, type your system password, it will lead you to the management & diagnostic console page (mdc), click on wireless under local network. pls check if wep encryption is set to open and it is selected to use default encryption. you can also change the wireless channels & power settings, then click on submit. now try to connect.
Note: you can do the mdc on the desktop.
