We lost the cigarette ac adapter and purchased a new generic one, plugged it in and heard a popping noise. Now we can't get the dvd player powered up again. any suggestions

The end of the plug which gets inserted into the cigarette lighter/power port should unscrew. Inside is a fuse. You need to replace it with the identical size and rating of fuse. Check the unit with an ohm meter for any shorts between both conductors. If the unit is shorted toss it and get a new one. If it isn't shorted it should work with a new fuse. Let me know if you need any more help.

The amp/receiver JVC RX DV31 is displaying Overheat

Turn off all power, really should wait several hours for the capacitors in side to discharge. Remove the four screws from the sides and three screws from the top cover. Lift from the back pivoting towards the front to remove the cover. Inside you will find three small fuses. One fuse by itself and two close together. The fuse you need to replace is the fuse closest to the rear of the set of two. It is located next to the power clip for the fan. I believe the fuse is a 120v 2 amp fuse but check the board to be sure. if the fan is not working (you should be able to hear it) it will need to be replaced or if the power is not getting to it, a new power source added. I used a 12v 50ma adapter from the junk box.

Blowing fuses

Isn't the 1 amp fuse too small? Usually 12 volt operated electronics require a higher amperage fuse. Check with the adaptirs owners manual first before changing again.
