Question about Dell E172FP 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

My E172fp has a blank screen...when i unplug and plug it back in,the "dell dimension" or whatever that logo is comes on for a second, then the screen goes blank and stays that way.another monitor works fine on the computer.is there anything i can do to salvage this monitor? also, the power button stays green. my good monitor (same model) does the same thing when turning on without computer cable, but then it runs a test pattern of colors that float around the screen until i do something further, ie re attach computer cable or it goes into powersave. but this monitor only briefly does the former, what i described in the beginning of my question.

Green power light comes on but disk drive lights keep blinking and my screen is black on my dell dimension 4700

Remove ALL media from the machine DVD, CD, USB, etc. Check/reseat all Monitor cables. Reboot. If that fails, unplug , plug back in in 30 seconds or so. reboot, if you get a Dell Logo, Open the boot Menu and select Boot from HDD first.

Sony Bravia - no picture, no sound. Just a blank screen. We were watching a show and the screen went blank and no sound.

First thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to ten; plug back in; try again

Second thing to try: unplug from the wall; count to 10,000 (or wait 10 minutes or so); plug back in; try again

#1 worked for me when it would power on with no video, no sound, just small green light + white logo

Dell 17inch flat screen monitor will not remain on, the screen go

If your Dell monitor still under into warranty, better to call Dell technical support and have them replace your monitor coz there is no way you can fix on it.

If the monitor is beyond with the warranty already, better to but a new one than taking it repair that will cost you much.

Thank you.

Dell E172FP shows image for one second

There is a loosing on the Display portion of its circuit, there could be a problem in the Power Supply too. Will need to get it fixed from some repair shop, or if you are ready to get the list of tools, then I can guide where exactly you should try to solder it, or check the desolded items by the DMM (Digital Multi Meter)

Check your bios settings to make sure your video settings are correct for whatever card you're using. It sounds like you have a conflict between an onboard video card, and an aftermarket card.
