Pixelation/artifacting is usually indicative of a problem with video RAM (IE: The video card has a hardware problem) Since the Video is integrated into the motherboard, that means a motherboard replacement. ($150 to $200 for a replacement MB on Ebay)

I don't have any sound

If you actually hear sound from your laptop when playing other audio files like MP3s or audio CDs, the first thing you check if the Volume Control of the media player that you are using to watch the soaps. If these are streaming videos, look at the speaker/volume level and make sure it is set to high. Make sure as well the volume icon usually located at the bottom portion of the video playback is not turned off or muted.

If no audio at all from your computer, plug in external speakers or try headphones to see if you will get sound. If you do, most likely, your internal speakers have to be replaced. If no audio even on external speakers or headphones, check your general volume controls, set them to high and make sure none are muted, and verify that you have the correct audio controller selected for playbak.

If that still fails, reinstall your audio driver and if no improvement, most likely, you need the audio controller/motherboard replaced.

How do get the s-video to work on my dell m140

Stat by plugging your s-video cord into the computer and the TV. Then go to your display settings and enable the monitor as either your primary or secondary display. If you don't know how to get to display settings, I'll need to know what operating system you have.

Screen is very dark, external screen displays desktop. what could have cause this problem? XPS Laptop M140 with integrated Video Card, replacing mb is not an option. Could it be bad video cable or...

The inverter handles how bright the display is because it takes the DC power from the adapter and converts it to high voltage AC power for the backlight. When the inverter starts to and finally fails, the screen goes dark. Your problem is most likely an inverter failure.

No sound on laptop

Updated the drivers for your sound card? it could be incompatible (not the correct driver) if prior to updating the sound still works.

Need drivers to run windows 98se on dell xps m140

Microsoft (and Dell) stopped supporting Windows 98 a few years ago -- it lasted for over TEN years! So, it is *NOT* likely that you will find drivers for any computer that was "designed for Windows 2000" or "designed for Windows XP" or "designed for Vista".

So, in general, it is a _bad_ idea to connect any computer running Windows 98 to the Internet -- Microsoft has issued many "security-fixes" in the 4 years after they stopped supporting Windows 98 and Windows ME.
