I am guessing that you see lights on your computer, but no display on your monitor.

Have you tried another monitor? If you have and still no display, try unplugging everything from outside the computer except the monitor and then try again.

If no display, unplug power from computer and open the computer. Remove all expansion cards other than the video card. Disconnect all the cables from all of the drives, then connect power and try again.

Let me know if you need more help.

Why am I not getting no signal between computer and monitor. Computer is emachine W3118

According to
eMachines W3118 8512780 eMachines Desktop PC User Guide

Your machine may support more than one monitor and have more than one monitor port. Change the cable connecting the computer and monitor to a different monitor port as the computer may not yet be configured for the port you have plugged the monitor in to.

Why my computer is not turning on my monitor but the cpu is running

Need more information:
1. Are you sure the monitor is plugged into power?
2. Are you sure the monitor VGA cable is connected to the computer completely?
3. Is there an indicator on the monitor (a light).
4. When did it stop working? What changed?
Sometimes the power cord in the back or bottom of the monitor comes loose. Ensure all wires are securely connected.

Keeps telling me no signal

The motherboard is not telling you there is no signal, the monitor is..
In this order:

  1. Test the connection from graphics card to monitor, try a different monitor to eliminate this from the issues.
  2. If other monitor works, the old one is causing the problems
  3. If new monitor does not work:
  • Check the graphics card is seated properly, if possible, test with another graphics card, if this works, the issue is with the graphics card
  • If this does not work, check the fan on the cpu, is it spinning? If not, make sure the fan is connected to the motherboard
  • If the fan is spinning, remove all the ram, reboot, you should get a series of beeps, make note of these and repost them (computer will not boot)
  • If you get NO beeps with ram removed, the CPU or motherboard are possibly dead, if possible, replace CPU with known working one and retest with and without ram in, make sure you have thermal grease on the CPU>heatsink. Replace the Ram (or one module)
  • If you get a single beep and the motherboard powers the monitor, the CPU was your issue
  • If you get no beeps, confirmed death of motherboard.
Possible other solutions: Remove CMOS battery, leave for 1 minute and then replace, see if it boots
Check the power switch from the computer front panel is not sticking

My cpu is on just i power off the monitor.,series is samsung SyncMasterB1930 is the model., now when i am trying to on the monitor the monitor is not responding it is still power off mode.

First check if the monitor is functional by removing the monitor cable connected to the CPU, once disconnected you should see a onscreen display on the monitor (Keep the power cable intact).

Second check if the CPU is working (not stuck / hung) if you hear the windows logging on sound, then your CPU is fine. If you do not have sound enabled during startup or no speakers then once the system is on give it some time to load windows and then keep tapping the Caps lock or the num lock key, if the lights respond / glow on and off when you press the keys then the CPU is working.

Third check if the CPU has two display ports (in case if you have a onboard VGA and a seperate video card) disconnect it from one port and insert it in another port and restart the computer and see it it works. If you do not have two video ports then skip this step.

Fourth - Restart the computer and keep tapping F8 Key while restarting, in the windows advanced menu choose enable VGA mode or Low resolution video mode (based on XP or Vista/Win 7 the menu changes), if you can see that menu then the issue is with the display settings only. Once in VGA mode or low resolution mode reduce the video resolution settings and restart the computer.

Please revert if you need further assistance, or clarification.

Soon as ssoon as i turn on the computer the monitor flashes the the logon screen; two seconds later the display is gone. The monitor indicates that it is still on but no picture. I turn the monitor off...

Here the monitor does not have any problem.Initially test monitor by removing the monitor cable from the cpu.
you can see small boxes moving in the screen this ensures your monitor is ok

Here he problem is with Ram in the cpu .Just remove the ram and clean the ram slot and ram and then fix it tt will work fine

My desktop computer after switch on , CPU power led glow and on, monitor is on , drive light are on but no beep sound and screen is black . I replaced the cmos battery, memory card ...

The mother board name would be helpful. The name of the computer also.

A quite a few things can be the problem here.
The mother board could be bad with something wrong on it.
The memory should be checked.
Possible problem or defective CPU can also cause this kind of problem.
Not to be overlooked would be a possible problem with one of the cards.
So... I would recommend (with power off and cord removed from power supply) for you to remove all cards. Try by turning on the computer.
If at this point you get no power as you did at the beginning, then you need to check the CPU by either using another one (if possible) or have a friend try the cpu in another computer. If that does not work, then the problem is more than likely in the mother board. At this point if the motherboard is not good (should be checked by another person or friend) , also do not overlook the power supply.

Next... Remove all drive connections such as cdrom, hard drives and floppy. Turn on the computer and see if you can get the bios to come up...if it does, set the bios to default settings.
Next put each drive in one by one and then turn on the computer after each one is connected. If you are still able to start the computer, then put in the cards one by one and try the computer again after each one is put in the slot it came from. This is the process of elimination to see which part is at fault.

This type of problem is so common nowadays. What I did is open up the casing, pulled out the RAM and by using pencil eraser, rubbed the contact pattern. Put it back and turn on your computer. Always work for me and hope it might work for you too.
