You dont say how old the machine is??.but you could be right. But my main suspect would be the seal infact i think there might be two{ inside/outside} but i would say the problem is in this area.by the time everything is added up it might be cheaper to replace the machine.hope this helps.adrian

My Maytag A9700 is leaking from the bottom of the outer tub. I have changed both the tub bearing and the stem seal but it is still leaking - even more than before I started. My question is whether I

If the boot seal was properly seated onto the outer tub lip, then you should focus on the water seal (#39 in the graphic - it should have come with the mounting stem kit) as the source of the leak. Extra care must be used when installing this over the agitator drive shaft - some recommend adding a lubricant (Maytag center seal grease works well) to the shaft before sliding the mounting stem (and water seal) down onto the agitator shaft. Also, check the two sealing surfaces where the top of the boot seal (#40) meets the bottom of the mounting stem (#30). Look for cracks, chips or any bits of debris. Anything that keeps those two surfaces from meeting perfectly will cause a leak. These repairs should go fairly smoothly, but leaking water seals and chipped boot seals can cause problems.

The washer is leaking from the bottom

Your center seal is going bad or you have a bad hose, leaking water pump, or a cracked tub but GE is notorious for there center tub seals to going bad I would recommend a qualified service technician come look at it to rule out which one it is if your centers tub seal is bad I would buy a new washer but sorry for the troubles.

WATER LEAKING FROM ABOVE THE WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION IN THE CENTER OF THE MACHINE

Your center seal where the shaft goes through the tub to the transmission is bad and is letting water leak bye it. I would not repair the machine it will run you $350 to $600 to fix you have to buy a bearing kit which has the seal in it and the labor involved is a lot normally 4-5 hours to complete the job I would not attempt this on my own unless you know what your doing. I would start looking for a good quality used one or a new one sorry for the trouble hope this helps.

Leaking from the bottom of the washer.

it sounds as if the main tub ring is bad you need to pull your agitator out and check the two blots that hold the tub to the shaft and make sure they have not become loose or broken causing the inner tub to drop on the shaft and tear the tub seal.

I have a maytag washing machine, model #LAT9406AAE, water leaking from the bottom of the tank where the transmission housing shaft is hooked up.

That sounds like the center shaft seals are worn out. If the shaft and related parts are not corroded or rusted, it can be fixed. If it is the tub boot seal, it is a major teardown either way. But that model is worth fixing up if it is in good enough condition, and the cost in your area isn't over $200.

Washer leaking when filling up tub

Unlikely to be pump, sounds more like hose leaking, or drum seal.
Depending upon severity of leak, place a sheet of newspaper under front of m/c, pushing it as far back as you can. switch m/c on for a few secs, then switch off, remove paper and you should be able to judge where leak is.
Tilt m/c back and have a look underneath.
At 12 years old, if it looks major, I think I would replace m/c.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
