Unless you are having res. issues you can use component / optical / coaxial cables to connect all your devices to your denon and from your denon to your tv using component cables also

you r using the best connections component, optical. I would also use analog red and white audio cables from the cable box to the Denon and on the front of the Denon is an input mode button press to select auto. You also may have to assign the optical connection at the Denon setup menu

RE: Denon AVR 3300 - I cannot get the system setup menu to display on Phillips P50PFP5332D tv screen? All connected components work and sound great, but I cannot see Denon's Setup menu on tv to a

I understand, it's something I've misunderstood on my denon avr-790 as well when connected to a samsung 8000 series led tv.
The answer isn't in the receiver's settings (you can be on whatever source you want on the receiver end when toggling the menu). You need to toggle through the tv's sources to find the menu (usually found on hdmi 1). I've spent towards an hour recently troubleshooting only to find that it was the tv's source that wasn't set properly and I was trying to change the receiver's settings instead of the tv's source.
Hope that helps!

How do I set my receiver to read TV/CBL Dolby Digital. It is a AVR 789

The Dolby digital signal is outputted only through the Optical or Coaxial socket of the CBL box. you will have to get an optic fiber or coaxial cable depending which cable box you have and connect it to the digital input of the Denon receiver. The Denon's digital input are already assigned at the back. Eg: Optic input might be labeled CD so if you are connecting the CBL box to the optic input remember to select CD on the Denon to hear the cable sound, same goes with the coaxial input.

I am not able to get audio through my HDMI cables.

It's a monitor - no audio source capabilities.

Get TV-related audio from its original source, not the TV or monitor. TV's and monitors are NOT hi-end audio sources.

Cable box, DVD, BD, games: these are potential hi-fi digital audio sources.

I have a denon avr-2807 receiver. on tv mode, i can only get analog signals. i am using an optical cable and the signal is only transmitted in digital. how can i correct this?

An optical cable is digital but its only audio not video. Are you connected to a cable or satellite box, are you using composit video, s-vid, component video, or hdmi? What kind of cable goes from your denon to your tv?

Which optical inputs should I use for (1) audio output from hi-def cable box (connected to HDTV with component cables) and (2) audio output from DVD (connected to 3805 with component cables?

Hi, the Optical and Coaxial inputs are assignable to whichever input you need them on. Plug the Optical cables from your DVD and HD cable box into any of the OPTICAL INPUTS (1 and 2 is fine, but write down your connections on paper)

You will then need to go into the setup of the AVR on the screen and assign the OPTICAL connections to the correct inputs (Probably TV/CAB and DVD.

Use the SYSTEM SETUP button on the factory remote, and you should see the on-screen menu appear on your TV. Go to INPUT ASSIGNMENT and choose the input for the DVD and assign OPTICAL 1 or 2...

No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird

Yes, you have to have a composite cable from monitor out on the Denon to a composite input on the tv to get on screen

No television sound from denon avr-3000

TV has Component input (Green,Red,Blue) connect as follows:

1. Connect Component Video and Audio cables from the Cable box, PS3, DVD or Sat box to thea Component Video and Audio input on the Denon (TV/DBS, DBS,VCR1 VRS2, VDP or DVD).
2. Connect a Component Video cable from the Denon to the TV Component Video input.
3. If you do not have a cable or sat box and have a cable from the wall to the TV you must take an RCA(Red&White) audio out of the TV to an input listed in #1

Surround sound

Hi

Your receiver is capable of video conversion, so there should be no problem using your component cable.

Does your TV accept component, or only S-Video? If you can run component to your TV, the best quality signal path would be using a component cable from your Verizon box to your receiver, and component from your receiver to your TV.

Make sure you have set up the video input correctly, so that it is set to accept the incoming signal on the correct sockets.

Denon AVR 5803A upsampled digital inputs I had 2 questions you might be able to help me with. Both relate to my Denon 5803A signal processing. I have just purchased a Cambridge Audio Azur 840C CD player with both digital and analog outputs. The CD player upsamples standard 44.1 khz to 48, 96, 192 for digital output (and 384 for conversion in the CD player for analog output). The Denon is listed as having DAC's that operate at 192, yet when I upsample the CD digital output to 192, the denon switches to 'analog' from digital, and plays nothing through the digital coax input. If I take it down to 96khz, it plays (and lists as 96 PCM on the front panel when in 'auto' mode). So first question is how do I take a 192 khz digital signal into the Denon. I had thought the "A" designation/upgrade allowed for this. 2nd question - if I take the analog out from the CD player to the analog in on the Denon, does the Denon convert back to digital in order to 1) split the signal to the sub vs. the mains at 80 hz (or is/can this be done in the analog realm), and 2) play in 7.1 channel stereo (I know some signal processing happens for center channel, but I don't use this channel...so technically 6.1 channel). Net, does the left and right channels for front, side, and back have any signal processing in the digital realm on 7.1 channel setting. I ask because the CD player actually upsamples to 384 khz before converting to analog for a very good signal. yet I like a crossovered signal for sub, and enjoy 6.1 music at times. Thanks for any help you can offer.
