Question about Porter Cable Cable 19.2 Volt Grip - To - Fit Cordless Drill/Driver Kit - 9984

Open Question

19.2 volt charger for my drill will not charge the batteries.

The red light nor green light comes on.  It did get warm after being plugged in for 10 min.  I would like to get the schematic for the charger and see what is up.

    I put the 19.2 volt craftsman battery in the charger and no lights come on. The battery came fully charged so I expected the "fully charged" light to come on. The battery does hold a charge and registers 19.7 volts

I dont have any information on this drill but most cordless products that I deal with the charge time is usually around 1 hour. Do you still have your owners manual that should be in there. Hope this helps

easier troubleshooting if you have multimeter..
set your multimeter to 25V DC range,
then look for the polarity for the adaptor..
put your probe to it,if it shows reading,then the battery at fault...

SOURCE: Batteries not charging

sounds like my charger, not making good contact

wiggle the battery around while pushing down and you can probably get it to make contact

sounds like you just need a new charger

Greetings Gurus. I have Makita charger model DC18RC, battery model is 18v BL1815...manual is of limited help. I'm trying to understand what the indicator lights mean, what the time is for charging,

I agree that the pictographs are not very helpful. You probably have one of the new chargers. I have an old one, which is a little easier to figure out.

From top to bottom

1. The flashing green light with the electric plug indicates that the unit is plugged in and ready to go.
2. The flashing red little fan means that the battery is too warm so it is just cooling it and not charging it at that moment.
3. The solid red empty battery outline means that it is charging but hasn't got very far, less than 80% full.
4. The mostly full battery outline with both solid red and green lights at the same time means it is 80% full or more
5. The full battery outline and solid green with the musical notes means it is full up.
6. The broken battery outline with flashing red and green means you've got a broken battery.
7. The yellow light with the wrench means the charger is "conditioning" the battery, whatever that means.
8. The yellow light with the fan means "cooling abnormality."

Hope this helps

This is not right. They should last much longer then that. I have one of the more expensive 18V lithium batteries (the one with the button on it that tells you if it needs charging or not) and I can use mine almost all day before it needs to be recharged. I do construction work and I use my Ryobi products almost all day. Either both batteries are bad (I don't believe that is the case) or the charger is not charging them all the way to a full charge. With this charger, you do need to make sure that you remove the batteries as soon as the green light comes on. It is not good on these batteries to stay charging after they are fully charged. You also should not leave the charger plugged in without any batteries charging.Please tell me more about the charger. When you plug in the charger, does the red light come on? When you plug in a battery, does the red light stay bright and the green light blink? Does the red light go off and the green light stay on bright when you remove it from the charger?
If the charger is not working correctly, then return it for a new one.

The battery is dead, and the charger will not not charge it. You need to purchase a new battery.

Green and red light comes on when i put battery in charger what does that mean?

Here is the manual:
http://toolboyworld.com/eBay/Ryobi_P120/P120_566_eng.pdf

Red = quick charge
yellow = evaluating
green = charged

CHARGING A COOL BATTERY PACK
If battery pack is within normal temperature range, the red LED on charger will come on.

Red LED should remain on for approximately 1 hour then the green LED will come on. Green LED on indicates battery pack is fully charged and charger is in maintenance charge mode.

Batteries don't charge. I have a new battery, and neither of the old or new batteries work in the charger. I get flashing lights only, sometimes red, sometimes green, but in the end, the battery isn't...

Dust getting in the charger is a problem, Try blowing it out with a moisture-free dust remover, found at most any store. Green flashing means improper power, due to dust or power from the outlet, try a differant wall outlet. Red flashing means the charger or battery is to hot and must cool down before it will charge. The charger will not charge a battery if the lights are flashing. Solid Red light means it is charging and solid green light means it is charged. Plug the charger in first before putting the battery on the charger. If the charger has been droped or hit the floor the coil inside could have broke loose and dammaged the charger requiring it to be replaced.

Either the battery is hot from use or has been in the sun, let it cool down, then try again.
