Question about JVC PC-XC60 Shelf System

JVC PC XC60 Dead

I have a JVC model PCXC60 shelf system that I had in direct sunlight and it quite working. Molded (Very Tiny) on the rear of the unit, it says "Do not use in direct sunlight". This is a great warning if only it were easier to see... Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk! Apparently an IC has over-heated and now the unit is completely dead. I do not have a schematic for this unit, so I don't know where to start. There are no LED's, display, or anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank

Unfortunately, you might need to purchase a new unit to replace the one you have right now.

Did you just have it exposed to sunlight, or was it OPERATING in direct sunlight? Those are two very different situations!

SOURCE: Problem with JVC stereo shelf system

It could be many things but if you put the disc in and you can hear the noise it makes while its scanning the disc then its probably the laser is mis-aligned. If you cannot hear any noise at all and it comes up with error after a while then it could be the entire laser unit needs replacing. Good luck.

SOURCE: Cannot open or eject CD's

Turn the unit off. Then take one small thin strong knife or knife like object. Then insert it in the side of the tray. Then wiggle the knife a bit and turn the unit on and then press the eject button few times simultaneously and also wiggle the knife a bit.Take care you dont scratch any part internally while wiggling the knife. If the tray is getting stuck ,then this releases the tray out and it ejects the cd.-------------- But if this is not helping then the jvc unit has to be disassembled and internal tray assembly parts has to be inspected manually for any blocking/crack or damage. Its fitted by screws. But take care. You mark the position of the screws before removing it and before moving any internal parts mark/note down its position,so while refitting the parts you dont face any problem. The eject tray comes out and goes in via gears and this gears get movement via motor. So you will have to check this gears, motor and eject tray position.Either of this is misaligned and causing the problem. If gears or motor checked out faulty, then you will have to get the parts, you can get this from local electronic tv/vcd/dvd repair center or from online parts stores like www.radioshack.com .---------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

SOURCE: why does my jvc pc-xc60 shut off after 5-10

Possibly heat.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Once you've loaded all 10 discs..press the "continue" button on your remote, then press the cd play button directly beneath it.hopefully you have the remote controller...if not...there are similar buttons on the unit itself.

Contact JVC directly. They will refer you to their parts rep for your area. If the parts are available, you may find the parts to be rather expensive in relation to buying a new one.

This looks like it might be a tough one. You can contact JVC directly which may take some time and cost 20 bucks or so.

Also, I found a place where you can buy it but you have to ask for it specifically as for.

Troubleshoot auxiliary equipment

There is no Phono input on your JVC.

What TT are you trying to hook up? If it's a traditional one you would need a preamplifier to boost the tiny signal from the cartridge to a suitable level for the AUX to use.

If you have an old traditional receiver with a Phono section hanging around you could rig something up between it and your JVC.

Plug the TT into Phono on the old receiver. Run RCA cables from any Tape REC output to the AUX. Done.

How do i unlock my jvc shelf system

Look in user manual index for "unlock". It shoud have a default code there.

If not, plz provide the full product model #. It should be on a tag on the back or bottom of your unit.
