Voyager Titanium, tts help!

In certain conditions, the talk back is still operating even when you already turned off the option. The possible reason for it is that you have Google Text To Speech (Google TTS) and/or Samsung TTS and you need to disable them in order to completely disable talk back mode on your phone.

Here are the complete steps to do:

1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap Application manager.
3. Tap Running tab.
4. Tap All tab.
5. From here, disable Google Text to Speech Engine and also disable Samsung TTS.
6. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

The Power button is also the End button, just above the digit 3 on the keypad. Just press and hold to turn the phone on or off. The TTS button (between the Clear/Back and End/Power buttons) toggles the text to speech feature on and off. (If you are working hands free, enable TTS and the LG440G will read your incoming text and Notepad messages to you.) This feature doesn't work if you have the phone in Vibrate mode.

Here are the shortcuts:

1. Shift+Sym – start and to stop TTS (Text To Speech or Read To Me in Kindle 2). You have to keep Shift pressed down and then press Sym.
2. While TTS (Text To Speech or Read To Me in Kindle 2) is on – Use Shift button to Pause or Resume it. Note: this might be Space (spacebar).
3. While TTS (Text To Speech or Read To Me in Kindle 2) is on – you can switch between male and female voices, and change voice speed by using Alt + Aa keys and then using the 5 way controller.
4. To start TTS (Text To Speech or Read To Me in Kindle 2) at a particular place on a page, move the cursor to the spot BEFORE starting TTS.

Sounds like her phone has a bad mic and that is why she can hear other party but they cannot hear her.

Your unit must have TTS (Text to speech) for this feature to work. Not all voices have TTS. It is possible that your unit does not have TTS, or that the voice you have chosen does not do TTS. Check to see if there is an alternate voice with TTS.

I just purchased similar model (Nuvi 265W) and experiment for sometime. The trick is on the language option with or without TTS.

Select Setting from menu, go to language and pick the Voice option. Select any one of the language with TTS (Text to Speech) and save. Those that without (TTS) will not talk "street name", this is why some cheaper model can't speak street name, only turn-by-turn instruction, like nuvi model 205.

Update maps will not work here. You have to select language with TTS (Text to Speech) option.

e.g. American English - Jill (TTS) or British English - Daniel (TTS)

- Amazingly, the 260 does not come with Text-To-Speech turned on. The whole point of the upgrade to the 260 is text-to-speech (TTS). So go into the settings and go to "Voice", and choose an English voice with "TTS" in the title. The default voice does tell you to "turn right in point three miles", and all GPS receivers with voice prompting will do this, but that's not Text-To-Speech. TTS actually pronounces (or does the best it can) at pronouncing street names. So instead of "turn right", you get "Turn right on Jackson street".

Question: How do I change the Voice Language setting on my nuvi 2xx?
--> Answer: All of the Garmin® automotive GPS units that speak street names are also loaded with basic voice prompts (example: Turn Right in 500 feet) as well as Text-to-Speech (TTS) voices that speak street names. If one of the basic types of voice prompts has been selected, the voice prompts will not speak street names. In order to change this setting on the nüvi® 2xx series, follow these steps:

1. In the Main Menu, touch Tools (Wrench icon).
2. Touch Settings.
3. Press the Down arrow in the bottom right corner.
4. Select Language.
5. The first line on this screen is the Voice language. Touch the Current Voice option for the GPS device listed to change the Voice.
6. Select a Voice that is labeled TTS. These will speak street names. Options without the TTS label will say the distance until the next turn, but will not include the street name.
7. Select OK. The Voice has now been changed.
