Question about LG CU500 Cellular Phone
I just bought a CU500 on ebay to replace a broken phone. It didn't come with an owner's manual, so I downloaded one. Not much help on loading music, ringtones or photos into the phone. Following the advice of another FixYa post, I installed a 1 Gig SanDisk Micro SD card and attempted to access the card. Windows XP keeps trying to install the phone under "Other Devices" as "LG Mobile USB Modem". It can't find drivers and therefore fails. The phone reports the card as active, with only 528 KB in use. "USB Connection Mode" is set to "Mass Storage". "My Stuff" / "Memory Card" now reports an empty folder labeled "Music".
I've tried connecting to the PC with the the USB cord (just a straight thru cord, no box in the middle), then phone, then powering the phone on. I've also tried plugging into the PC with the phone already on. I've tried "USB Connection Mode" as both "Mass Storage" and "Data Service"; same results.
I've also downloaded the free free version of "DataPilot Trial"; it tries to connect but fails when it can't identify the phone. When I go to the list of phones to select CU500, it isn't shown in the list.
I feel I must be missing something stupid....any thoughts?
The easiest solution is to leave it as 'mass storage', then navigate to it, my computer, mass storage, ect, Then just right click & open it. Now open your pictures, music ect. on your PC, drag & drop to the phone. That's how I do mine. You will be able to drop them into whichever folder you want. You might have to drop them into a folder on the phone then copy & paste them to the SD card after you disconnect from the PC. If you have more questions leave a comment, I'll be happy to help. Good luck.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
