The control height adjustment knob should simply pull off - grasp it gently and pull off. Then locate the screws on top of the floor head to get into the belt area.

Revolving brush is not turning

The belt is broken.Turn the vacuum so you are looking at the brush. That palte needs to come off. Some screw and some just pop on and off. When you have the plate off lift the brush out.The belt fits in a groove on the brush. The other end of the belt fits on a small wheel about 6 inches behind the brush.Put the new belt on and replace the plate.

I HAVE A NEW BELT I NEED TO PUT ON MY VACUM CLEANER BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO PUT IT ON?

you need to take the bottom cover off to expose the motor's pulley, and the beater bar. take the beater barr off by just pulling it off, and follow the marks on the plastic where the belt goes.

Belt replacement

Hello :
1:Unplug your Hoover vacuum. Turn the vacuum up-side-down and place the motor and vacuum portion on a counter top with the handle hanging down toward the floor. This makes it easy to work on the underside of the vacuum portion of the machine.
2:Locate the two plastic release levers near the front wheels of the vacuum. On most machines you will only need to push these levers outward with your thumbs to release the bottom panel of the vacuum. On certain older models, there are two screws that will need to be removed with a screwdriver. Once released, remove the bottom plate.
3:Locate the drive belt. Unless the belt is broken completely, it will be plainly visible. One end of the belt loops around the shaft of the vacuum's motor and the other end wraps around the vacuum's beater bar. The belt is in a modified figure 8. Use your fingers to stretch the belt slightly and remove it from the small shaft of the motor which will be almost dead center under the vacuum.
4:Remove the roller (the beater bar) that is across the front edge of the vacuum. In most models you can remove the bar by simply pushing it forward slightly and then lifting it up out of the U groove that it is held in. In some models you may need to use your screwdriver to push aside two clips that hold the bar in place.
5:Remove the belt (if attached) from the bar and then clean the bar. The bar may have hair and bits of carpet wrapped tightly around it, especially at the ends where the accumulated mess could prevent the bar from spinning freely. Use scissors or a utility knife to carefully clean off all hair and other debris. Make certain that the roller rolls smoothly and easily.
6:Place the new belt around the roller, fitting it into the groove in the middle of the bar. Replace the bar in the machine. In most models, the bar should simply drop down into the U grooves that hold it. Give the belt half a twist (like the figure 8) and then loop the free end around the shaft of the motor.
7:Replace the bottom of the vacuum and push the retaining tabs back in place with your thumbs or screw in the two screws that hold the bottom on. Turn the machine over, plug it in, and it should be working like new.
Things You'll Need: Replacement belt Screwdriver (for some models) Scissors Utility knife
Warning:
1:If your machine makes a screeching noise when you turn it on, then turn it off and unplug it immediately. Turn it over and check to see that the bar is seated properly before turning it back on again.
2:Never work on your vacuum if it is plugged in.
I hope this will help .

I have a new brush to install but cant figure how to remove old, what is the trick?

On most vaccuums, there should be a single panel going across one side of the brush wheel. If not, the entire panel should come off. In 90% of cases, this will basically allow the brush wheel to fall free, and the new one to be slotted into the old slot. Ensure the belt is connected, and reattach the panel.

MY VACUUM IS NOT PICKING UP

Hi This is quite complicated but I'll try and simplify this for you:
If this is a Panasonic upright then there are two drive belts as you know. Once you take off the sole plate (where the beater bar is) by undoing screws and the beater bar is looking at you, you would have to take off the smaller belt motor pulley first before putting on a new larger drive belt. If the smaller belt is still intact and you only need to replace the larger belt, you'll still have to take off both belts to put on the new drive belt.
Motor pulley belt has to be taken off first then the old drive belt, then grasp the beater and slide on new larger drive belt before having to attach the motor pulley belt and then the larger belt onto the motor pulley. Once all belts have been attached ensure that the beater bar is pushed in correctly before you screw the sole plate back on.

Belt Stretched on my Hoover Windtunnel Farrington upright model U6431-900

hi, In order to to replace the V belt the one that turns the brush, One must take off the bigger belt " drive belt" that goes over that hugh wheel towards the back. When a belt gets stretched they will not turn the brush very well. If you have bought replacement belts the bigger belt Drive comes 2 in a package. Then you have your little V belt that helps turn your roller brush over. Yes the belts don't last long on my hoover. For kpatr22101 When you rpelace that V belt it goes over the roller brush into a little groove on the brush and then over a plastic round wheel then you must put on that bigger drive belt that must fit over that hugh wheel towards back and smaller on in front. Yes it is hard to get on. the I hope this helps. Cindy G.

We had to take the machine apart just to see that the belt had broken after only 5 use's . We can not see how we are ever going to put the new belt back on. do you have instructions on how to take the...

I have a Panasonic MC-V5746 upright vacuum. According to the booklet,
MAKE SURE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED.
1. Place carpet-bare floor selector in "carpet" position.
2. Remove lower plate (there are two screws in the middle of the lower plate), and a pair of locking tabs located near the wheels that you push toward the wheels.
3. Carefully pull agitator brush up and out and clean it.
4. Look new belt around the motor shaft (I had to turn the belt edgewise to get it back in there). On my unit, there are two shafts. Put it around the one furthest back and don't worry if it doesn't touch the other one.
5. Pull the other end of the belt and loop it around the "brush pulley" which is the narrow track on one end of the brush.
6. reinstall agitator back into nozzle housing grooves.
7. Turn the brush by hand to make sure it moves smoothly and isn't pinched or twisted.
8. Reinstall lower plate.

Changing a belt

Take off the bottom plate, look in the bottom to see if there are any screw, could be 2 of them, then from the bottom there is a slot on each side of the top cover, using a flat screwdriver, insert blade into the slot and pry up to release the locking tabs. Belt # is 38528040. Put the bell over the brush roll, put belt thru opening and put atound the motor shaft, put back together.
