Hiya

as this pc is skt 775 and has dual core support then it is quite likely that the e5200 will work but may need a bios update to support this cpu...

just goto dells site and choose the pc u have and select drivers then download the lastest bios, transfer it to the dell pc run it as its a self extractor system will reboot perform the update then bobs ya uncle.......pop in new cpu and hey presto cheapo ugrado

#and as for the graphics card you will need to accertain which pcie version u have as most dell pc's only have pcie v1 so wont be able to handle the newer gpu's on the market.......

hope this helps

Lenovo IdeaCentre k210 57088756 motherboard burnt. Processor is Intel Pentium Dual Core processor E5200. MTM is 53135CU. Any suggestion for a compatible replacement?

There are a huge range of motherboards to choose from. Stick with the well known brands and with the functions that suit your requirements.
My choice of brands are Gigabyte, Intel, MSI.
If you are into gaming and video editing etc. go for a motherboard without a built-in graphics card and purchase a separate high end graphics card.

Video chip location on computer board

If this is a direct reference to the Dell Dimension 5150 Desktop computer, it is an Intel GMA950 integrated graphics chip, soldered to the motherboard.

You will see Intel at the top of the chip, and GMA950 under Intel.

This is Dell Support, and the Service Manual for the Dell Dimension 5150/E510 Desktop computer.

More specifically this is the Specifications Documentation, and the Technical Overview part of the Service Manual,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5150/en/sm/techov1.htm#wp1058472

I referenced this page, to show you the basic components on the motherboard. Click on the sub-heading - System Board Components, in the list.

At the top of the motherboard you will see the processor sitting diagonally.

Under it you will see the Northbridge chipset, and more specifically in this crude illustration, you are looking at the heatsink which resides on the Northbridge chipset.

(Has a Z shaped clip which holds the heatsink to the Northbridge chipset. The heatsink has a 'meat cleaver' type of design)

In the area that is blank to the Left of the Battery, will be the Intel GMA950 GPU.
(GPU = Graphics Processing Unit, or graphics chip)

If you are wanting to upgrade your graphics quality, purchase a graphics card, and install it in the PCI Express x16 slot.
{In the illustration the slot is over to the Left.
PCI Express x16 connector (Slot 1)

How to know what graphics card is compatible with your computer?

1.You have a PCI Express x16 slot for a graphics card. This is the style of graphics card you need.

It is the PCI Express 1.1 version technology used. I wanted to add this in case you need it for reference.

Be aware of this! No matter what anyone tells you, you can use a PCI Express graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology, in your PCI Express 1.1 slot.

Why?
Because PCI Express 2.0 technology is Backwards Compatible with PCI Express 1.1 technology.

Backwards Compatible. Means it will recognize the PCI Express graphics card utilizing PCI-E 2.0, and will work.

2.You have a 305 Watt power supply. You need to have enough Wattage, (Power), for the computer system, and the graphics card.

I advise using an ATI Radeon graphics card. Which one? Since you have a Pentium 4 processor, 305 Watt power supply,
(With all probability a 18 Amp, 12 volt power rail),
I suggest something along the lines of an ATI Radeon HD3850.

Depends on what you expect from your graphics.

If your reference in your query above is that you believe your graphics chip may be burned out, then I definitely suggest using a graphics card.

The PCI Express x16 slot is controlled by the Northbridge chipset. Doesn't matter if your Integrated Intel GMA950 GPU is burned out, or not.

Graphics card for D 101 GGC intel mobo/2.66/p-4/ram 512

Good news, you can upgrade the graphics card with almost any current PCIe (PCI Express) video card. Once you install a new graphics card in your system, the ATI Radeon x200 will be disabled automatically, as per the manual.

The one caveat is that the board is not PCIe 2.0 compliant, so any video card that requires PCIe 2.0 compliance will not work. This is not an issue as almost all modern graphics cards work on PCIe 1.0. However, make sure to check the requirements o fthe card before you buy it.

As for the most suitable graphics card for you, its hard to say without knowing what tasks you wish to use this computer for and what is your budget. If you are only using it for office tasks, then the onboard graphics processor is more than enough for your use.

I should mention, that the motherboard processor support constrains you to the P4 series of CPUs. This is fine for moderate tasks, but if your gola is to play a game like Crysis, then even the most powerful, multiGPU graphics card will only make the game playable. You will probably never be able to max out your frames per second.

That said, the board supports up to a 3.4ghz CPU, which is fast enough to play almost every modern game if you upgrade to a powerful graphics card.

If you wish to do 3D graphics design, I would not recomend upgrading the video card for this purpose. Video rendering and processing stil does rely on the CPU. However, if you look into nvidia's CUDA framekwork, it is possible to offload rendering to the GPU. This is probably not worth the effort unless you are relaly short on cash.

Bottom line is, yes you can upgrade no problem. As for the best video card, I do need to know he reason you wish to upgrade the video card.

Well from what I am looking at right now, you need to pick a PCI Express card for your upgrade. You know what you are going to use this computer for. My best solution for you would be to advise you to pick out the best video card for what you are wanting to do, for gaming you might need a higher end card, but if you are just going to use this for the internet and displaying web pages I wouldn't spend that much on a video card. Matter of fact it has on board video just use that.

If you want a really good card be ready to pay for it. I looked around and they are not cheap!

GeForce 8800 GT 512MB $150.00
Radeon 4850 $175.00

There are a couple of ball park figures. But your motherboard should accept any pci express card you want to throw in it.
