I'd like to know how to turn off my HP Photosmart 3210 automatically, i.e. when I shutdown Windows XP Home SP2. Now I always have to turn it off manually. Another thing I'd appreciate is an automatic shutdown of the printer after a configurable number of minutes. I examined the settings of the HP Photosmart driver, but to no avail. So does anyone know how to turn this printer off automatically?
Push comes to shove you could try something like the IntelliPlug

Normally I would advise people to leave it on since the power consumption is typically very low but in this case the idle power is 11 1/2 watts which is a lot to leave on all the time. According to the energy star requirements some MFDs can draw up to 105 watts in the idle mode. Yikes! #

I found 3 black pieces of the plastic guides in the back which are part of the paper feeding system. They don't seem to be broken. It looks like they just need to be snapped back into place. I'm not sure how to get the unit apart to allow me to try to replace them, or in the event, purchase new pieces and install them. Is there a diagram of this printer on line which would detail the construction of the printer to allow me to replace them. Thanks, Jim
