Hiya

when it starts to boot up repeatedly press f8 then u will get a menu, choose last known good configuration.

if this does not work then go into safe mode and uninstall any drivers and reboot to see if that works.

what u may need to do is update your system drivers

Bootmgr compressed self fix

At times after enabling / disabling disk compression on Win 7 or Vista boot drive you may receive the Bootmgr is Compressed error upon restarting your computer as displayed below:

BOOTMGR IS COMPRESSED
Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to Restart
1. After rebooting with OS DVD, choose "Repair your Computer" and then select "Startup Repair". Reboot your computer.
2. After rebooting, click on "Load drivers" button an explorer style window will pop up, go ahead and right click on the drive that may have been compressed and deselect `Compress this Drive'. Choose apply and then apply to subfolders/files before rebooting.

There are registry commands also that can be used. But the above 2 steps can be very helpful to start with.

Fan is running all the time just started 1 day ago after computer fixed a problem

All the computer fans run 99.999999% of the time. It may be getting louder and therefore more noticeable. Dust build up over time can make your computer running hotter which would require the fans to run faster if they are varible speed vans (have a 3 or 4 pin connector)

Dell laptop every once in a while shuts down completely, im wondering if its over heating.

Restart the computer in safe mode (Press F8 key when you restart computer and see the dell log untill you see the Advanced boot options, choose safe mode using your up and down arrow key and hit enter).

you system will load the basic windows drivers and will not connect to internet.
Please keep your system on and work with it for some time and test it. Even in this mode if your computer restarts then its definitely due to heat, else its due to application errors or driver errors.

Intel PC wont boot past startup and keeps shutting down unless I disconnect the cooling fan, let it start and then reconnect the fan

hi,

might have to get a higher wattage power supply,
the initial amperage draw plus everything else may be causing the stock power supply volts to dip past the limit
maybe download the intel active monitor and study that, or hook up a voltmeter and watch the output at startup.

good luck with your toy

Automatically retarting when I shut down computer

2000 Is Windows 2000. Why did you put that disk in? Did you start loading Windows 2000 or XP Pro, XP-Home?

It sounds like your switch is wired to the reset jumper on the motherboard or you are hitting reset.

Tell me what the computer screen has on it before it shuts down please.
I will wait on you answer. Do not rate until we are done.

Harddisk

Hi, It may be a virus you may want to check on that first. If it is possible for you to scan it on a friend's computer while you are at it you can repair it there too. If not your last resort is formatting the drive using your Bootable Windows Installer CD.
