Question about Routers

Westell 327W15-06 Modem/router password doesn't work- can we reset?

The above says it all. Went on vacation, disconnected from ISP; returned and resubscribed...all would work the same until tried to access modem, and we had forgotten the modem password! ISP won't help cause didn't purchase it from them (Ebay), and Westell DOESN'T HAVE A TECH SUPPORT. Both suggested buying another modem/router from ISP!!! (Of course). Know there is a generic password (factory reset), as used it once, but no one seems to want to give it up. Do you know anyway around this? Any help much appreciated! I have never ever accessed the router configuration before, yet the default password and username don't seem to be correct.

you need to configure the dsl modem to be on bridge mode after you did it successfully. that is the time you configure your d-link for you to connect to the internet.
call first your ISP to configure the modem to Bridge mode after that call your manufacturer of the dlink for them to configure your connection

if you connect the computer directly to the modem, without any router , does it work?
Make sure that your computer will be online when connected to the modem.
If you are not online through the modem, then you should have the correct user name and password for the ISP.

Westell versalink 327w from bellsouth can't connect

Howdy,

I do not think this modem will work for you. Contact O.T.C. to be sure. For a few details...

I presume that you can access your Westell wireless modem/router 327w with the IP address of - 192.168.1.254. (Or you can simply type "launchmodem" in the address bar - (one word - no quotes)) This will definitely get you in. You will then see the setup menu. If you see the Bellsouth FastAccess Internet Service logo then you know you definitely have a Bellsouth modem.

Now, let's presume, you are using a Westell wireless modem/router 327w made for Bellsouth/ATT. If this is the case, as stated above, you will see the Bellsouth Logo on the setup page. Additionally, it is stated on the page below, that you cannot use a Bellsouth modem/router for any other ISP (Internet Service Provider) This is due to the Bellsouth/ATT firmware that Westell builds into this modem/router.

This is the page link:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/bellsouth/3.141_Westell_327W__wireless__Info#13772

This is the relevant quote:
"The BellSouth supplied 327W (model C90-327W30-06) is made exclusively for BellSouth FastAccess. They are functionally different from retail Westells (or any model designed for use with other ISPs) and the firmware between them are not compatible and can not be interchanged."

That being said, you still might attempt to use this 327W with orlando telephone company but I do not know if it will work. (Doubtful...) I use the Bellsouth 327W and it is GREAT. (With Bsouth/ATT) Good luck.

P.S. - Please be advised that Westell does manufacture an identical 327W that does NOT have the Bellsouth/ATT firmware.installed. This is the "generic" version I suppose but I have no experience with this one. If you need more just ask. :)

Good luck,

J

Linksys router and Westell modem are not talking to each other...how to fix

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

the default password for your westell 327 is username: admin and password: password, the admin admin combination is what usually isp providers such as verizon tells you to put in after configuring it for the first time. 192.168.1.1 is the url add for you to be able to access your westell 327. after accessing your modem you can find the WEP key below the modem, after enabling the security of your network the WEP kep is your default security password
