50'' Magnavox showing half picute on bottom. Bottom half is colorful in and out pixelation w/ vertical bars. I refer to the pixilation as stary-snow. Top half shows display with horizontal lines. Bad buffers? or dry joint? Replaced faulty caps on PSB and set was fantastic for 3 days. This is my new prob. Wold like to fix myself as I'm fairly good with small component work. Just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Vertical colors bars appearing and disappering are the causes by the board that call the T-CON board it is dying or the fiber optic cable that connected to it lose or damages internally.Mostly of the times about 99% of the times the T-CON board it is dying and it is not decodering pixels codes correctly anymore before it send those pictures pixels codes to the tv LCD screen panel. This T-CON board sit at the bottom in the middle of the tv LCD screen panel.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a new refurbish T-CON board for the replacement.
Sounds like your YBL-Y Buffer lower board is going out. There are 3 boards here. The Y buffer upper which controls the top half of the display, The Y buffer lower controls the bottom half and the Y-SUS main control those two boards. They work in unison. Usually if one goes out you have to replace all. You can also get lucky and just repalce the YBL and all may be well. Now if they are vertical lines up and down the OSD-On screen display, then this is indicitive on dry solder joints on the D, G E, F boards. Hope this helps...
Hi,
The vertical amplifier of your TV seems to be defective.
Adjust height control if the problem persists then take your device to Pioneer service center.

If I am right, this is an expensive problem.
The minute pixels that make up the display are turned off and on by circuits arranged in an X-Y matrix.
To avoid using one circuit to control each pixel, the circuits are rapidly scanned at a rate higher than the eye can detect.
One or more of the circuits that do the scanning have failed on your set and the ugly part is, the display panels often have these mounted on the display itself forming a 'package' that speeds assembly and are made only by a few companies.
If yours is one of these, the entire panel would have to be replaced since the integrated circuits used are very small and have pin spacings that pretty much preclude replacement by hand since they were originally placed by robots.
I hope for your sake the display panel and its control circuits are separate and the panel is still fine since the cost of an integrated replacement may prove to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of the cost of a new set.
I believe that this could be a type of "burn in". If you watch anything with a black stripe on the sides or bottom of the screen often, then this could be the problem. My suggestion is to watch things that have no black side bars for a while (>week) and see if this eliminates the problem.
Good Luck!!
