Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)

Router has stopped routing

The router has been in use for almost two months and has been working fine things started acting up last week so today the provider has came and checked their equipment and it is operating properly.when the problem began I could reset by unpluging power and it would work again, but now the only way I can get connected is to disconnect the router and connect the cable directly into the computer. The network shows that the router is connected through the computer that is hard wired through the router, but will not connect to net and the laptop will not connect either unless I bypass router and connect directly with the cable fom my dsl provider

Hi, Check to fix with the router's warranty.
Somethings that you could try yourselves are:

- Disconnect the router and power it down. wait for 30 secs and switch it on.
- Go into the router settings and change the transmitting channel to either 1,6 or 11.
These steps are to avoid air traffic congestions.

As a last resort, you can reset your router by holding down the reset button in the back. It doesn't sound like this will fix the problem however. Purchasing a new router shouldn't be necessary, as most if not all Netgear routers come with a 1 year warranty standard.

ASUS RX3041 connection problems

Hello,

For whatever reason, your router is having trouble handling the traffic with both computers running at once.

This might be a small issue concerning the routing table.
Since it does still work generally, I would try simply reseting the router.

There should be a small pin hole on the back of the router to reset it.

Thanks,

Pat

I currently have a cable modem that the Linksys router has been working with for the last couple of years. Yesterday it started acting up by not letting me go to some sites. Today, it has failed...

Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Forgot which cables go to what for wireless within the house

Your router goes between the modem and computer. The WAN side of the router gets connected to the modem and the LAN side of the router goes to the computer(s). Once connected, start the router and let it stabilize, then start the computer.

Help please! TP-Link Wireless Router TL-WR641G stopped working

It looks like all your devices by themselves are working fine.
Good start.
If you took the router out of your office I assume that the settings from the office and your home are different, which causes the setup not to work properly.

First of all you should find out which hardware version of the router you have and download the manual from here, so you have the information at hand when you're not online.

Then you want to rest the router to factory settings, so you start clean. In order to do so, use the Factory Default Reset button: First, turn off the router's power. Second, press and hold the default reset button then turn on the router's power, until the SYS LED lights up (about 3 seconds). Last, release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Follow the instructions in the manual form page 8 on onwards with a special view on setting up PPPoE. Have your information form your DSL provider handy (Account name and password).
The default webpage for the router interface is http://192.168.1.1
Username and password are both "admin".

Do not enable any wireless security until everything is working fine.

Make sure later to change the password to something else, so no one can "take over" your router.

If this solution did not help, please don't rate it as "Thanks for trying" or so, but leave a comment instead and I will check back and we can work form there.

Good luck!

Bad connection. dropped internet when connected with mac wired or wireless

I'm not sure but it could be that the particular router has some hardware issues. I bought a Belkin wireless N router a few months back and i had the same problem. It only had a short range and kept cutting off in between. I exchanged it with a new router and voila!. it works fine.
And the other thing i've come to notice. At times having the router under the desk or at a corner might not give off enough to provide a connection within the adjacent room so I've had to place the router in a open and unobstructed place. So much for belkins super signalling.

Intermittent connectivity

Check to see if you are losing the DSL or Internet light on the modem when you lose your onnection. If so, then check with your IP provider, that may be the problem.
