You can try taking out the memory and reseating it.

Majority of the time with the ZD8000 the motherboard has gone bad.

You can also try starting the laptop with the battery removed. I've seen this work on a few occasions.

Sorry there isn't just some magic button you can push to make everything better. Actually there might be, a lot of the HP's during this time had a reset button on the bottom of their laptops, I can't remember if your model did off the top of my head, but look around anyways to see.

    Best of Luck!

You'll have to replace the motherboard or junk the computer. Best Buy had a really nice compaq on sale for only $350, I'm not sure if they still do but you can get a really nice laptop now for $400 and below.

You could always replace your motherboard but most local repair shops overcharge for this big time.

Hi

Try to remove the battery, hold on power button for about 50-60seconds, then plug-in the charger and turn the laptop ON, see what happens.

I would recommend to disconnect all external devices and also internal cards and devices (hard drive, cd rom driver etc) just have your motherboard processor keyboard and power supply connectors and front pannel connectors press the power button and watch the keyboard, if it flashes the lights twice or once. if once turn off the power and then remove your ram modules and turn on check if you get beeps from the motherboard buzzers, if not its is evident that the motherboard or processor is definitely bad. you need to check and replace them.

some times even a bad power supply with less supply of voltage cause this if you have another power supply (SMPS) unit check with it.

Start taking your laptop apart piece by piece and test it after each removed component:
1. Remove the hard drive and test the laptop.
2. Remove the DVD drive and test the laptop.
3. Remove the wireless card and test the laptop.
4. Unplug the display panel from the motherboard/video card and test the laptop.
etc....
Continue taking it apart until you have only three major components connected: motherboard (with video card), processor, and memory. If you still experience the same problem, most likely it's bad motherboard.
By the way, before you start, try reconnecting the memory module. If you have two modules installed, try removing them one by one and test the laptop with each one separately

HP Pavillion zd8000 won't power up

Try attaching a normal VGA desktop monitor to it. There should be a plug either on the sides or the back of the laptop. A blue one. That way you'll be sure.

Laptop will not turn on

Hi, this indicates to me that you have a low battery and the power pack is not functioning resulting in not enough power to boot the computer up.
A replacement power pack will fix your problem.
