Question about Brother FAX-575 Plain Paper Thermal

My brother mfc-790cw is sending but not recieving faxs.

    tried resetting it fro manual to tel/fax but the "initial set-up" no longer has the option.

It has been switched to "manual reception", or "tel mode" rather than "fax" or "Auto receive".

The problem is not with your fax machines. If it sends to any fax number it so OK.

Make sure the telephone wire is plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without splitters or extensions. If you still cannot send a fax, try another wire or jack

My fax keeps saying check paper, why? I cant recieve faxes but can send them, please help.


you will need a technician to inspect the paper feed mechanism. feed rollers worn, bad sensor or paper scrap in unit. difficult for customer to get into unit.

Brother Fax MFC 790CW. Loaded the USB cable from fax machine to my computer and start with it would print from the computer though now it keeps saying offline all the time and even though when I right...


Hi there Jenny, are you using Vista with this printer? If yes, you can to the following:

1. Click the Vista Start button, and go to Control Panel
2. Click Hardware and Sound.
3. Under Printers, c
lick Change default printer.
4. Right click on the printer icon, select Run as administrator, and then click on Properties.
5.
If the User Account Control prompt is displayed, click Continue.
6.
Click on the Ports tab.
7.
Click Configure Port associated to your Brother MFC790c
8. Change the Protocol to Raw.
9. Then click OK.

Restart the printer and try again.

If this does not work, please let me know so that I can suggest other solutions. Goodluck!

Just bought the brother mfc 790cw wireless printer....theres no port to hook it up to my computer obviously and i have no users manual...how do i link it up with my computer?


You have to connect to the printer at least once with a USB A to B cable to set up the wireless system.

After that you can connect wirelessly.

You have to answer the hone to recieve the fax


Try unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds to reset the machine.

Scroll through the menus and set your machine to AUTO or AUTO RECEIVE.

Hi. Open the document control panel and look in with a flashlight and see if the jam switch is stuck. also look for a small piece of paper that might be stuck in there. The jam is in where you put documents in to fax out. Lawrence
