Yes. if you only put a 5.1 signal into the system it will only play in 5.1. it would use the other 2 speakers as duplicates for surround sound.

I have the home security system with four cameras and DVR. It is called the 4CH Real Time DVR. The current to the unit went out and when it came back on, it is asking for a passcode to search and...


I'm not sure if this will help you, but I'd give it a shot. I would enter zeros for the password.
It is takes 4 digits, I would enter 4 zeros. It it takes 5 digits, I would enter 5 zeros, etc.
You may also try a sequence of 1234 or 12345 etc.
These will usually be a default password for many alarm systems. Meaning that if no password
was ever set up, this is what would often work.

Assuming that the system is properly installed and was working ok before, the problem is usually a blown output amplifier in one channel and the receiver disconnects the speakers to avoid damaging them. In this case, professional repair is required.
