    Hello,
Can you tell me what software you have installed on the computer to play the DVD? You need a DVD decoder to play DVD's on a computer.

    Thanks,

Using Recovery CD's to Start Over!

***WARNING: ALL FILES WILL BE LOST WHEN PERFORMING THIS!!! PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL FILES ARE BACKED UP!!!***

1. If you have all of the Recovery Disks (Operating System Disk, Software Disk, Driver Disk) shipped with the system, you need to first put the Operating System Recovery disk in the CD or DVD ROM (the one that says the Windows Operating System on it).

2. Start the computer and you should see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD...

NOTE:
If the Install Windows page does not appear and you are not asked to press a key to start (or "boot") from CD or DVD, you might have to specify that your computer use its CD or DVD drive as the startup device. This means that you need to set the CD or DVD drive to be the first startup device in the basic input/output system (BIOS). Occasionally, as with HP Pavilion laptops, you can press F9 or some other Function key to designate a temporary boot device. This key may different between systems.
Newer computers usually display a startup (or boot) menu. On the startup menu, select "BIOS setup," or "BIOS settings," or something similar.

Warning

Updating the BIOS is an advanced procedure, and if an error occurs, your computer could stop working. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions exactly.

Note
Procedures for updating the BIOS vary depending on the manufacturer. Check the information that came with your computer or go to the computer manufacturer's website. Each computer has its own startup (or boot) options and access to the BIOS setup. If your computer does not have a startup menu, look for a message that says "BIOS setup," "BIOS settings," or something similar, and then press the appropriate key when prompted to display the BIOS setup screen.
The BIOS setup screen appears. On the BIOS setup screen, select the option called "Boot order," or something similar. Select your CD or DVD drive as the first startup device. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS
Restart your computer, and then start Windows from the installation CD or DVD as previously described.

3. Depending on the type of Operating System you have, the next steps will be different. For Windows XP, a blue screen will come up and drivers will be loading to begin the installation process. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, when the Install Windows screen comes up follow all the prompts as per your needs. The installation, especially for Windows 7, is very straight forward.

4. A screen should come up now preparing the Windows Installation. Simply follow the prompts, making sure to wipe the previous windows installation completely before continuing with the current install.

5. When the installation is complete you should verify that all the drivers were loaded completely. For Windows XP go to Start>>Control Panel>>System>>Device Manager and make sure no yellow circles with exclamation marks are showing. For Windows Vista and 7 go to the Start menu (6c22571.gif )>>Control Panel>>Device Manager.

6. If so, you will have to go to your manufacturer website to download the missing drivers. Go to the support section and put in your express service code or model number, or use the auto-detect feature if it is available and it will tell you what you have available to download.
When in doubt: download and install everything. The worst that can happen is it will say it isn't compatible or already exists and won't install. Also ensure you run ALL windows updates, even optional ones. The only exception to this is with Windows 7 updates. A whole bunch of language packs are available which do not have to be installed, unless you need them! There should be approximately 34 of these language packs.

Hope this helps. I will include more specific information as I come across it.

Good Luck and as always, if you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself please consult a professional.

You G900 comes with a software CD, DVD or a mini disc. Insert it in the computer CD/DVD drive and install the software. If you cannot find the disc in the packing then you must download this software from the sony erricson website.

Trying to load packard bell ,its formated hard drive ,next screen i have c:\ what do i put to continue

The system is trying to boot from the C drive i,e, the HDD, you need to continue after formatting from the CD/DVD.

Presumable it initially booted from the disk and you went through the procedure wizard of telling the computer to install a fresh copy of the operating system deleting any existing operating systems, and you didn't ask it to partition the disk and retain the OS that was originally on the HDD.

After formatting it should continue to install the OS on the drive you specified from the CD/DVD disk.

Start again you have nothing to lose as the HDD is now formatted and all previous information is lost, but this time read the screens that come up carefully.

One final point you did put the disk in then power up the computer didn't you????? not put the disk in and try and re install.

The computer has to be booted from the disk.

Cant` load disc`s

For that you need to set first boot device as cd/dvd rom in bios.
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or aLT+F2 key to enter in bios.
Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as cd/dv rom then save settings and exit from bios.
Then it will boot with windows disk.
If it still not boot then make sure your cd/dvd rom and windows disk is perfect.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My 'DVD-RW Drive' will not recognise my DVDs the little light flashes (under the place where i put my DVD in) a few times and then goes out and nothing comes up in 'My Computer', the CDs i put in work fine...

your driver is affected and it will probably need a total reinstall to work fine ....there are viruses that affcets drive in such a way ..You can though go to device manager and see if the drive is in yellow with a ask sign on it ..and to click right and try to update driver ..but from my expirience in these situations it will not asign the right driver and this sirus will just affect it again in minutes
so my advice is to see if the drive accepts bootabl;e cd with the installation software ..and reinstall i t..

Trying to re-install Windows Vista on a Dell Latitude laptop.....

THis guy was an idiot that told you to wipe the hard drive.  All you have to do, is go to the network connection software that your wireless card uses, this is different for all laptops, ad click on the connections tab.  Now you should see a list of all available wireless connections.  Click on whichever connection has the name of your wireless network, and enterrr in the Access Key (if it is enabled) and you should be good to go.  If you dont know the name for your network, look on your wireless router for a sticker that says SSID: this is the name of the connection, there should also be a WEP or WPA code there, which is the access Key.
