Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

Purplish hue to display image and picture on Powershot A75

I've had the camera over 4 years. It was working fine 2 weeks ago. Just used it today. The display screen and picture is showing a purplish-pink hue through out the image where there is light reflected or areas of greater light in the image. Is this a simple setting adjustment or more serious?

Purpleish hue or fine, horizontal lines on photos OCCASIONALLY

Unfortunately it's an indication that your camera is in it's death-throes. The symptoms are a classic description of a failing image sensor and the problem will progress to complete failure.

Your camera is about six years old now so, in common with many others of the same age and using similar sensor construction, the sensor is suffering an ongoing degradation due to irreversible chemical and physical processes. The worst affected sensors are those made by Sony, as used in your camera, but others are affected also. Fuji use a radically different design and manufacturing process for the sensors which they use exclusively in their own Finepix cameras and seem to be suffering far less. The cause of the sensor breakdown is now well understood and newer cameras, mostly those made in the last two years, should not be fated to suffer the same issues.

Your camera was designed for around a five year lifespan, so it's done fairly well. Your only fix will be to replace the camera as repairs are not cost effective and you'll have major problems obtaining the spare part required. The repair is not a DIY fix and needs special tools and skills to be a success. Even if you do find the spare part, it's likely to have degraded in storage and highly likely to fail within a few months of first use.

Sorry there's no realistic fix for this fault, but I hope that you've found my posting to be of use and in return I ask only that you take a moment to rate my answer.

Canon A75 No startup sound & display on LCD, rest of things works fine

Think it might be your batteries. 700mah batteries are pretty weak by today's standards (most are at least 2,500 mah these days). I'm guessing your batteries are several years old? If so, they're really only meant to have a usable shelf life of a few years, whether they are used or not. Recommend trying a new set of rechargeable batteries.
