No lamp in this set. in the menu turn off the auto format feature. with the remote use the format button to put the set in the 16 by 9 format..if that doesn't fix the problem you probably have a pincushion problem.

It sounds like you have the Zoom feature in the wrong mode. There should be several levels of zoom that you can cycle through with your remote. These were designed so that you can fill a 16:9 aspect screen with a 4:3 picture if you want to. You also may have the Auto Format feature turned on. Go into settings and check that first. It sounds like you should be set on 16:9. Sometimes the right and left arrow keys on the remote will cycle through the various formats.
Look up your user manual, it sounds like your zoom feature has been activated to the max. I have a Zenith backlit LCD TV and it has a zoom feature you control from your remote. You could open up your on screen menu and find the place to reset the TV to factory settings that should clear up the problem.
seems to me as a Sony TV. The sony tv has this feature ready in the menu. you can do zoom out ,standard etc,
But the real problem comes when the tv is turn off and then you get back to turn on the tv (lets say next day)and you find the same big heads.
what you have to do is going to the menu same thing but this time look for an option is called picture size default. This option make learn the memory what size you want custom when tv is turn on.This function is in the same page as the picture size page (refer to the user's manual) but has to be the default mode where you want the change.
The problem with sizes now days is some shows fit perfect some others not. and besides that the cable box has those features too(change size of the screen)
What i do in this sony tv to start first is keeping it in the standard size in the tv menu and i defaulted too.
when some size adjustment is needed i do it in the cable box remote control .Once again this example i do it in SONY tv, Maybe you have to post the problem again if the tv is different brand.
There should be a format button on your remote to change between widescreen & fullscreen as well as the zooms. May say format or aspect. If not on remote look through your menus. Make sure which ever u select u do not choose a zoom. This will cut of top & bottom of picture
Either the TV or the cable/satellite receiver has Zoomed in to the image when parts of the picture are cut off. Look at both remotes for a Zoom feature or the onscreen menu's for any settings. Usually TV settings don't change on their own but cable/satellite receivers can receive updates and it may need to be reset afterwords, much like a PC.
hello, my 1 yr. old just last nite was pressing buttons on the front of my RCA 52" and i saw something pop up in the left corner that said zoom. i have not found anything that will unzoom it but i have found something to help. Go into the menu and go to picture. then to the advance settings and choose the automatic preference. it will fix it depending usually on the programming. Myabe someone will know how to turn off the zoom!
