Question about Sanyo Bag-Free SC-240 Canister Vacuum
I have a Sanyo model SC-240 canister vacuum cleaner that I bought about 5 years ago. Today when trying to use it it wouldn't turn on. I tried outlets that other appliances work on. I have never had this problem or any other with this vacuum. The only diagnosis the manual gives for this problem is to check to see if the cord is plugged all the way in the power outlet and to replace the cord if the cord is damaged where the cord connects to the plug. I have the cord completely plugged in when trying to get it to start, and there is no damage that I can see where the plug connects to the cord. The cord is not retractable. I cleaned the on/off switch prongs with sandpaper and tested the connecting clips that attach to the switch prongs and the switch prongs or whatever they're called with a voltage testing light and got no voltage reading with the vacuum plugged in. I don't know if the voltage tester is good. How do I test the voltage tester? Just plug it into a live outlet? Any replies are appreciated.

Two solutions come to mind---1) Find a local vac store, NOT a department or big box store, and bring the bag to them.Sometimes on the bag is an identifying letter or number and on many you need to remove the bag to see it. Also bring your make/model info. Many manufacturer bags are for identical machines that have been labeled for a retail chain.Panasonic product with a Kenmore label for instance.
2) Ebay has some of the best deals and widest array of harder to find bags, filters and accessories.Good Luck-Scott
