Digital color wheel

I have a Toshiba 52hm84. The motor for the color wheel is defective. Where can I get a new one. part number on motor is 17s5391041 and b14227. The same color wheel is used on my HP mp3220. I also need to replace the color disk. The cable that attaches to the motor references Coretronic but they only have support with a partner login.

The picture is still there but there is no color

The color wheel has probably been damaged or broken. Remove the lamp and look into the round aluminum housing. There should be a colored round glass wheel covering about 2/3 of the opening. If not there, you'll notice glass pieces on the bottom of the case. The part number is Toshiba MOTOR PJ TB30 CW 23125963 ~ $160. It is tricky to replace, so if your not used to working on electronic equipment, you would have to take it in for service. If the wheel is in place, It could also be a main board voltage problem. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure my color wheel is broken, and would be fine W/ replacing myself, but can't find where I could buy one. I have learned that the collor wheel is supposed to have4 segments, and have 2x...

Simple answer No! Colour wheels do run at high speed (I think around 20,000rpm and you can get 4 and 6 segment colour wheels i.e for each get better colour definition for the higher end ones.

Remember the colour wheel is a precision device as It has to rotate in sync with the DMD chip as each different frame of colour information is sent to the dmd chip.
some important considersations for choosing another colour wheel- off the top of my head:
motor voltage and current
number of poles on stepper motor
size of motor- will it fit
diameter of colour wheel
purity of the colours etched onto the glass
mounting of the assembly

I'd be looking for an original, see if your authorised repaired would be happy to sell you a genuine one on the basis of no warranty no return.

but do give it a go if the repair cost and a genuine one is out of the ball park or similar cost to new
Good Luck!

Toshiba TDP-P4 Defect Ballast The lamp starts for ahalf a second, just a little flash. Tried a new lamp same thing. I suspect the ballast. Used de service manual and from Power Supply it gets the 5v wich...

the 5v from the power supply is just the signal voltage. the ballast, once ignited, sends about 350vdc to strike the lamp for a few seconds then lowers to 40vdc to maintain it. unfortunately, $261 is a standard price for it.

I heard a pop and now the projector only shows black and white.

The color wheel has failed in youtr projector. There are 4 pieces of glass in the color wheel which fit togeter in a "pie" formation and they are red, blue, yellow & clear. This wheel is spun by a motor. The glass is glued to the motor's hub, and, when it fails the glass segments are thown off the hub. This gives you a B&W picture because all of the light is allowed to shine through the optics all of the time. Replace the color wheel with Toshiba part no: 23125963. It will be about $65. No soldering is involved, just use care with the ribbon cable to the motor. You will need a no. 2 phillips screwdriver and a set of jeweles screwdrivers to do this.

Hi, If you have tried other video sources & still get the same results. It sounds like the motor that turns the color wheel is going bad, These motor's run from 5,000 to 10,000 rpm depending on model & are usually the first point of failure in a color wheel based DLP projector, If you don't count the lamp.
Overtime it may begin to make a squealing noise. Usually you can find replacement motors on the internet by searching the part number printed on the motor google is great for searching part numbers.
