With linen style or glossy paper, ink smudges

Within the 'printer preferences' prior to printing, are you selecting an appropriate "special paper" setting, and try changing "print quality" from "speed" to"quality" This should help. The other possibility is that you are low on Fuser oil.

Can use a glossy paper?

If the glossy paper is rated for the printer you are using yes. Never use paper that is only rated for inkjet in a laser printer. Many special inkjet papers have coatings that will melt or break down due to the heat of a laser jet and may damage your printer.

HP Photosmart Premium c309a series smudging wedding invitation envelopes badly. I can print the invitations and everything else just fine. Any suggestions? Thank you.

when you go to print your envelope and click the print command - a window will open with the name of your printer and a box that says properties. click on properties. Change the type of envelope stock to match what you are printing on in the next window. If you are using photo paper envelope with a glossy finish, make sure that is the print media you have set for your printer. If not, the ink will just keep smudging. it's very important to match the print stock (matte, glossy, premium ect).

When I print a glossy photo print, right at the end the printer makes a noise as if its labouring and there are excess ink smudges on the corners of the print. It only happens when printing glossy paper.

i think the problem is with your print head. i have the same problem before. when i put out the print head to check. there's a lot of excess ink. this may be the reason for the ink smudges on the corners of your print. and when you set your printer to photo printing. it is programmed to put larger amount of ink than normal printing. the best way is to have your printer checked by your service center or change your printhead to a new one. goodluck!

I put an a4 glossy paper in for aphoto, try and print from the laptop but does not work. if i use normal a4 paper it works?

You need to find out the spec on the A4 photo grade paper.

If the paper is to heavy, then it will not pick and feed properly. If the paper is to glossy, it could cause the paper to slip and smudge or blurry the image.

If the paper is made for a laser printer, the ink will be absorbed into the page.

Laser printers fuse (heat and pressure) the image onto the paper. Ink printers, however, require that the paper be able to absorb the ink into the paper.

Black ink smudge

I have a different model but on mine if you go to
Start
Control Panel
Printers & Faxes
Click on Your Printer Name
Click on Printer
Click on Properties
Click on Maintenance
there is a menu in there that will allow you to perform various cleaning functions. One of them is removing smudges.
Also, if you have your printer set for the wrong type of paper in your word processor, and you are printing say, on double-sided glossy and it's set for normal, you will not only NOT get the quality you want but the ink won't have enough time to dry before doing the other side and will cause a lot of smudge problems.
There are other solutions depending on whether or not you attempted to refill your cartridge.

Ink from my deskjet 5650 smears off my glossy postcards.

Hello there jbaerpynes.

You must use HP branded glossy paper in this particular printer as recommended by the manufacturer. Because HP ink is much finer than most other inkjet printers, the ink sometimes does not set in properly on generic papers, especially glossy ones, and can smear right off.

Try new paper and get back to me. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to comment on my post. If I helped you, please give me a positive rating.

Thanks.

Blurry, Ink Smeared pages

If the media (glossy paper) is designed for an ink jet printer you should be fine.

Ink has to be able to be absorbed into the fibers of the page. If you are using paper for a laser color printer, that's your problem.

Canon i9900 black ink smudging

ok, What cartridges are you using, Are the Canon cartridges?
What paper are you using, is it Canon paper?

If you are to both of these it could be wise ordering a printhead, but this is mostly caused in the uk by None Canon Paper.

Please let me know what you are using?

Re: Smudging

Try Cleaning the printheads. you usually have a utilitie to do this in :- Printer preferences. Also try several Print test Pages. It appears that your getting a surge of ink, at the initial printing stage. use standard paper to do all tests with. 1:- it,s cheaper. 2:- it,ll help soak-up any surplus ink. whereas the glossy paper does,nt soak it up too well. If these solutions don,t help. check HPs site for fault diagnosing and repairing.
Hope this helps you in the right direction.
