It may be that the Tivo has gone south. One option would be to send the Tivo in for service. Often times, the first thing to fail is the hard drive which could be causing your problem. To fix this, you could either purchase an upgrade kit with the Tivo software preloaded or purchase a new drive and configure and install the software yourself. Your service subscription is tied to the box id, not the hard drive.

You can find out more inforamtion on or look specifically for the hinsdale howto which talks about upgrading the tivo. If this is the problem, the advantage is that you may come out with a Tivo with more storage. If the hard drive is not the problem, this will be of no use.

Picture is breaking-up

Did you check your cabling? Does it happen on all channels? Try powering off the receiver and powering it back on. If that does not work, try replacing your cables, if that still doesn't work you may need to contact your service provider.

Hi Arvind,
If you already confirmed that all voltages are ready but the unit didn't power up. Replace the EEPROM, this is usually a 8pin IC.

If you havent set up an appointment yet, dish network receiver dont always run well off of power strips no matter how fancy they are, it has to do with the voltage pull off of the LNB, The LNB is the big white thing at the end of your dish. Chances are that your receiver has gone bad due to over heating or rough shipping, you can set up an appointment or call dish tell them the receivers cutting off they will mail you one and send you the postage for you to mail back the other one.

Got vaova freeview recorder, has frozen on one station, how can I un freeze it, thank you

I'm going to assume that power cycling does not fix anything for you, so I suggest you reboot and change the settings under Preferences Menu > Start-up Mode to Standby (then reboot the device again). This fixes it in most cases.

This is common with drive problems.

"Welcome. Powering-up " on screen and cannot turn it off manually or remotely

If you have a TiVo that is stuck on powering up, you likely have a bad hard drive. See this page for more information about a TiVo that is stuck on powering up.

Continuous reboot problem

Most likely, if your unit is not powering up to the TiVo Central screen, you have a hard drive problem. You might consider a replacement TiVo hard drive.

LG LST-5100P set top box. Several times a day have

cap-grant, my friend has the same problem with set top box. When I phone maker I was told it is due to poor and weak signal. You must have 80% signal strength to maintain good picture. When signal strength dropped picture would freeze and had to be turned off at the power point to restart as nothing would work. So I guess what my experience says is you may need better aerial to boost signal and prevent dropout Leonard210
