My MTX 600xd amp light won't even come on. ... Red light comes on. ... one.. and some times it goes into protection... once I turn the car off...
Over powered: Winding's are compromised and you have short. Could be an insulation problem, but only a VOM test can determine the condition or state of the amp.
sounds like your speakers are "clipping" drawing more power than the head unit or amp can handle. Or the speaker coil is damaged. Turn off amp and slowly raise the volume, and see if it still does the same
Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . Send to Rockford Fosgate for repair

Hi the protection light comes on when there is a problem within the amps. circuitry. Generally speaking the protection light normally comes on when powered up while the amp checks all of its voltage rails so that they all lie within a specific tolerance, when all have been verified to be in spec. then the protect light goes out & the power light comes on. If the protect light stays on then a fault exists within it's circuitry. Cheers, acbva.
make revision in fuses holder box and confirm that responsible fuses are firmly inserted-also confirm good connection of power lead(+&-) are connected firmly.
yes make sure there both connected properly, check the fuses, the protection light usualy comes on when there is too much power and the amp protects itself from blowing
