Question about Beyond Micro Mobile / 250GB / 7200 / 8MB / Black / USB 2.0 / External 250 GB Hard Drive
I have 2 Beyond Micro external drives model BMMDU2. After not using them for a couple of weeks, both are showing a red light wne powering on.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

The drive USB interface may be damaged; an external case is available form various vendors for about $20. The drive should pop out and into the new case. If still not recognized, then the ID track on the drive may be compromized - that can happen if the USB is unplugged while it is still writing to the drive. There is drive recovery software out there, like EASEUS that works quite well (they have a demo that you can try free) to see if that would work.

Beyond doesn't have much in the way of tech support or manuals, but I can tell you that if it doesn't power up, a new power adapter will cost you as much as simply replacing the whole enclosure.
Take the device to a local PC shop and ask the techs there to move your drive into a new enclosure, they should be able to do that for $20-$40 and you will save a lot of headaches trying to deal with Beyond.
Hope this helps FixYA,

Well, looks like Beyond Mico web site has gone to the great Beyond.
From units I have been able to find online, it looks like the power supply is between 20 and 40 watts.
The hard drive unit itself should be able to supply you with the required DC input voltage (hopefully there is some kind of label on the enclosure).
You could try one of these or something similar. It comes with 6 interchangeable heads and has adjustable DC voltage. This is just one of many available.
I cannot guarentee any of these supplied heads will fit your particular drive (same with the dc voltage). But some local retailers often have these types of adapters and you might be able to determine what size you need by looking at one.
I have used DC units similar to these in the past when I have lost a power supply.
Hopefully with a minimum of effort you can get a working solution.
