My Polaris 400 sportsman has spark and fuel pump ok. Put it want fire other words want start

Spark? Are you pulling a spark plug and laying it on the engine and cranking the engine over and the spark plug is firing?? Fuel pump working, but is fuel getting into the combustion chamber? Spay just a small bit of starting fluid into the air cleaner. Then try. If its been sitting, fuel pump may be working, but fuel system stopped up.
Only 3 things to run an engine needed.
Spark, fuel, compression. That's if timing is ok. Fuel in the cylinder, spark plugs firing, and a good enough compression in the cylinders to create heat my air molecules being compressed and creating heat from friction. Only 3 things. Hope this helps.

What type of fluid in used in 1971 ford 4000

The 1970 ford 4000 had 3 engine options; gas, diesel, and lp. If there is no canister that looks like a propane tank then it is gas or diesel. A gas engine will have spark plugs and wires and the diesel will not. The only fluid that is going to be different is what kind of fuel it runs on. Any dealership that sells tractors should be able to show you how to service yours. Manuals are available on line. And next time specify what fluid you are talking about; transmission, hydraulic, coolant, break, power steering, etc. We can't read minds.

90cc 2 stroke polaris atv backfires, the plug is new, and it sometimes seems to starve for fuel. filter seems o.k., and the air filter cleaned out. Seems to get worst when hot

2 cycle engines have tendencies to plug exhaust systems which will cause pressure buildups within the combustion chamber due to the oil being used to lubricate the internal bearings and components it is then spent on combustion and exits out the exhaust hence to cloud of smoke left behind over long periods of time if too much oil is being supplied (oil rich) then these heavy oil deposits collect within the exhaust system eventually leading to a plugged exhaust stream. Another issue is that a 2 cycle engine requires the crankshaft seals to be perfect, if a crankshaft seal is not completely sealing during the intake cycle instead of using the fuel system to provide 100 percent of intake air/fuel there will be a reduced or limited amount reaching the combustion chamber as the crankcase will **** in air through the seals on the crankshaft and reduce the amount of required fuel/air mixture to provide a complete combustion cycle, another possibility is piston ring/cylinder wall damage. Some steps are the compression gauge test, cylinder leakdown test and a simple tear down and visual examination.

Just changed the fuel filter on a John deere 1020, is there a way to prime the injector pump?

If the fuel filter is full when replaced it shouldn't be necessary. But if you have access to compressed air, put air to the fuel tank and that will do it. Hope that helps ya.

Run out of diesel gas. Filled it up and now it won't fire. only turns over. Is there something we should do when we run it down to empty?

You need to bleed the fuel right through to the injector pump. If there is no valve for the purpose you will have to loosen the pipe unions progressively towards the pump until fuel flows at all points one after the other. Many modern diesel engines have a valve and auxiliary hand pump to do the job .

HELLO;Yes if the motor wasn't rebuilt with a piston of lower compression than your running at a higher level and you might look at rejetting the carb and also checking the timeing. GOOD LUCK......GREASY.
