Needle in the tower? Wow! Who told you that? Geek Squad.

OK in all seriousness this is what I want you to do.

Press F8 as the computer boots up.

Choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt"

Let me know if you're able to get that far and then we'll proceed from there.

Did a fresh install of Windows XP with new media disk, but after the installation, I can't get past the admin password and log in

Restart the computer. Repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys

then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional" depending on the version of the operating system. Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.

Log in as "Administrator"

Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.

Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control userpasswords" (without the quotes). Click OK

Select the "Administrator" user.

Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes.

Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place. I do not recommend that a password hint be used.

Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.

hope this helps

Hmm, you generally need to hit F8 at power on to get to safe mode. Sounds like you have a boot loop.
At power up hit F8 many times, choose safe mode, choose do not restart on error.

The two biggest problems in XP is audio drivers and graphics drivers. From a long experience dealing with all kinds of graphics cards and drivers I would say that the driver you are installing is not correct for OS and your card. Not sure what you are using that makes you think it is but I believe it is not. If you are using a driver scanner software then beware. Your best bet is go to here..
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
..this will give correct driver. This will probably fix BUT keep in mind that the pc beeping means hardware issue, so0o0oo not having the correct driver will also cause this, but usually not with a graphics card or it's driver. Usually this is mobo, ram, hd, etc.

Blue Screen error

Try to boot the PC without the XP Home CD in the CD drive, and keep pressing the F8 key until it comes up with a boot menu that includes a Safe Mode option.

If you had the XP Pro CD I'd suggest doing a recovery, but XP Home doesn't have that option I don't think.

You may have to try a few times until the boot menu appears. Don't hold the F8 key down - keep pressing it!

When you get into Safe Mode, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Then go to Hardware tab (i think - not in winXP right now) and choose device manager. Just remove the Video Card from the list altogether, and then restart. Should force it to use generic video card drivers.

then check your video card model and look for the updated driver

what you are describing is the blue screen of death, meaning theres a hardware or software problem, try to boot into safe mode and perform a system restore, if that doesn't work use your XP cd, let it load the drivers and the ask it to fix the existing XP installation, anything that you have saved in my documents should be safe and the problem should be solved. If the blue screen reappears then you have a hardware problem
