Question about HP (160559-001) Sound Card

HP 6730b Laptop Pardus Linux and no sound

Dear Problem Solvers,
I have an HP Laptop 6730b model. I installed Pardus Linux and get no sound from the laptop. I tried to fiend out the solution and came out that Alsa has some problems with the south bridge ICH9. What I got when I give the command alsa-info is as follows:
Please help me to get to hear some sound from my laptop.

I had no sound in my Pardus first. I went in the settings of the Kmix symbol/speaker down at the meny list and changed the main channel from "Front" to "Master Front"
Then I restarted the pc and it was ok. But you must adjust the volume, it propably is settled on 0 % first.

In my other PC it was not necessary to do that. So it effect only some computers with no or low sound.

you donot mention any thing abt your hp notebook model no .
but you can use the following link to download the proper driver for your laptop after selecting the proper model of your laptop. download the proper drive and install then. it will resolve your issue.

Linux drivers of maxxonet laptop


usually you don't need linux drivers
after installing linux you must type
yum install
and it will search for all software and drivers for your laptop

Uninstall your sound drivers through device manager

Not finding audio driver for hp dv2401tu xp support


You should first install and run a program such as PC Wizard. Look for all the information about the sound chip. then go to driver-downloads.com and hunt for your sound driver.
