Using HP DeskJet 1120Cse for Printing Album pages

By Perkins - usenet poster

As the subject line says-- has anyone had experience printing album
pages with this printer. It handles large size pages, but I was
wondering how it does with heavy weight papers. Supposedly it does well
with photopaper, so I would think it might do well.

I also have a HP1000. There IS a straight paper path (open the little flap
thing on the back of the printer). I haven't had any problems printing stamp
album pages using the straight path. The people who mentioned problems in this
thread seem to be printing on very heavy paper -- more like thin cardboard.

I bought my 1000 quite recently (dealers seem to be clearing it out to make
way for the 1100) and am really happy with it.

I've been running 110 pound through the HP 5. Definitely a little on
the heavy side!

What about shadows?

Does it have a paper guide in the back? I wasn't thinking aout a
paper guide when I bought the HP 1000Cse. I actually wasn't even
thinking of doing stamp album pages with it! Then I saw some stamp
album pages I had to print.

It's great (the 1000) for everything except a straight paper path.
Maybe need to look at it a little closer before totally condemning
it.

Tracy,

I use a HP 4V for making album pages it is an enhanced 600 dpi system and can
do any size up to 11 x 17 with full bleed. Although not recommended by HP I
regularly run 80# card/cover stock through it. Here is some food for thought;
Nothing wrong with using two printers to produce an outstanding looking page.
I print pages in black and add color hi-lights later. My inkjet is an epson
with a straight through feed. The epson also handles the heavier card stock
with no problems. With the large number of different printers on the market
now, I think the best bet is running out to the computer store for an eyeball
look to see if it will suit you. A printer may give outstanding results on
special papers, but if it will not handle the job you want it to do it is an
expensive paperweight.

Poop... Had I known that before I bought it, I would've gone with a
different printer. Still does great for the covers I do. :)

Anyway, I use my HP Laser 5 for the pages. Not color, but the quality
is superb.

Last night at our computer club meeting a fella from Office Depot was there
with the HP 1120. I asked him how it handled cardstock (unfortunately, he
didn't have any with him as he was there to demo a digital camera). I told
him I had heard there were problems with the heavy cardstock. He said the
1000 did have that problem but they had corrected it with the 1120. I would
take a couple of samples with me to Office Depot, or wherever you are going
to get your printer and run them through to see exactly how it handles them.

It sure can print! I was very impressed with the quality! The cost was $399.

With lighter, less than 60 pound paper, it may go through the regular
tray. I have the 1000 and when trying to print through the back of
the printer for heavier paper, the pages never really come out
straight. They're always crooked. It's like there's no paper guide
for it.

Is there a manual feed from the back of the printer? I'd check that
out.

If not, it probably won't do heavier paper from the tray.
