Vx-7000 webcam will not connect on msn messenger

    hi,tried all that but its still not working,device manager says everything is ok. its windows vista i am using. when i go to try to connect webcam on msn messenger i just get the message saying "we couldnt start your camera device please check that your camera is currently not in use by another programme and then try again" it deffinately isnt please help many thank iain

    hi norris have tried that but when i go to update the mcafee it says i have the latest one and there is no need to update,when i try to go onto video audio settings i just get a message saying we cannot access this. think its deffinately something to do with mcafee but dont know how to sort it.

    hi i followed instructions on last post but right at the end when i go to save file it will not allow me to save the changes,i just get a message saying"cannot create the file please ensure file name and path are correct" if you can help solve this problem i will be eternally gratefull

Hi iainrusk,
what operating system are you using (following Microsoft, this webcam will work with Windows Vista™ or Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) only)? Are you using one of them?
If yes, please disconnect the camera from your computer, open the device manager of your computer and maximize that window. Now connect the camera to the computer (preferably to one the the USB-ports of the computer, not to a USB-hub!) and watch what is going on at the device manager. Normally the cam should be installed without problems and then you can see the respective entry under "Audio, Video and Gamecontroller". If not, the entry "Unknown device" should appear within the "USB-controller" section. In case this is happening, you should disconnect the cam. install the software which came with the cam and - after you did so - reconnect the cam again. Now everything should work fine...

    are you using McAfee security software on that computer? If yes, please check this:

    Did you setup the cam with MSN Messenger correctly (in case you didn't, please follow this procedure)?


    1. Please start Windows Live Messenger and maximize the application window.

    2. On the right side you should see "Show
      Menus". Please click on that and then click on "Show the Menu Bar".

    3. On the menu bar please click on "Action".

    4. Click "Tools" and then "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the
      instructions given there.
    Finally you should check that no other application (like Skype, Yahoo Messenger or others) are accessing the cam while you want to use it with MSN.

    don't worry, I guess we will make it finally!

    Did you try to stop monitoring the MS Live Messenger by McAfee's Site Advisor? If not, please follow these steps:



    1. Navigate to the following folder:



      Windows XP/2000/Vista (32-bit): C:\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor



      Windows Vista (64-bit): C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\SiteAdvisor


    2. Right-click the file sasets.ini and select Open With, then select Notepad.

    3. Locate the section titled [msnmsgr.exe].

    4. Change Enabled=1 to Enabled=0.

    5. Click File and select Save.

    6. Close sasets.ini and restart your computer for changes to take effect.
    Let me know if it worked!

You need to setup you MSN Messenger to control your camera. Download the latest version (MSN Messenger) first and install it. Sometimes older versions will not work with a cam. Also, download another messenger like Yahoo, and try that as well.

Dell webcam manager working with msn messenger?


as ive told others, make sure u actually turn off the software program that came with the computer before using with msn! u should be able to have it on while using it but for some reason some computers wont allow it! it "tells itself" that there are 2 programs trying to run the web cam when really only one is.
but because the program is on, it sees it as being used in 2 places at 2 different times!

try turning off and exiting the software (dell webcam manager) and then go onto msn and try using ur web cam!! make sure the dell manager is exited, then when u have a msn window open, turn the cam on and see if ur friends can see u then..

u have to install driver of ur web cam....then in the setting of MSN messanger u should select ur caputering device (ur web cam model)then aplly...MSN will connect to ur webcam

Hi, my name is jullie and i have an acer extensa5620 the webcam on it doesn't work in yahoo messenger for some reason, but it does work in msn. I though it was a matter of me not installing yahoo properly,...


you have to go into the "macromedia flash" settings and "allow" the webam to be used by yahoo messenger, whilst in yahoo messenger itself.
If that doesn't work have a look at the webcams actual software

When i am on msn and want to put on webcam a message appears in a conversation saying Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70202)


This might be a compatibility problem between your webcam drivers with the new Windows Live Messenger program. You may want to:

1. Update your webcam drivers and see if Windows Live Messenger can detect it when you run the Audio Video setup from its Tools menu.

2. Or you can downgrade back to the older version of Windows Live Messenger which is compatible for your camera. Doing this however also requires that you uninstall all the Windows Live Beta products from your computer.

Note: You will not see a separate Windows Live Messenger on your Add/Remove programs, instead you will either see there Windows Live Beta products or Windows Live Essentials.

The type of pc is not as important as the type of webcam at this point. The story also needs more details.

If you had a Logtec webcam and at first it only worked with its custom made software, what did you do to make it work with MSN?

Based of the info provided, I would
1. uninstall all cam software while the cam is unpluged,

2. Reboot the pc. Then plug the cam in.

3. When windows detects the cam, it will ask for drivers, do not click on search on windows update website, click the option to choose from a specific location and then browse to the cd provided.

4. Try and load msn now. The msn website or the cam company sometimes have a patch to make the cam and the messenger work together. I would check the cam website before looking around the microsoft site.
