Re: my e-machine desk top does not power up.
There is a way to bypass the switch and start the computer, just to verify that the switch is the actual problem....the only thing is it requires you to open up the computer case. If you are not comfortable doing this, I would take it to a computer shop. I don't want to see you damage your computer!
Here are the directions:
Open up the computer case
Find the wire that is connected to the front switch
Follow the wire to the motherboard and disconnect it from the 2 pins it is connected to
Take a screw driver and touch both pins at the same time (Picture Below). This will create a connection, as if you pushed in the switch and should start the computer.
Now if the computer doesn't start , then you know the problem is not the switch and will have to further troubleshoot it. If it does start, try going to e-bay and searching for a replacement switch

Are you sure the button is working? If you're savvy enough, and since you've been able to test the other components, take the button apart and hot wire that computer by tapping the wires together. It's worked for me in the past.
you must measure the output from your power supply see the diagram attached in the box. If some Voltage like +5vdc is missing you must replace the power supply. If the Monitor NOT turn ON try to test in another computer more easy. or go to the repair shop.Use the bottoms from the monitor and execute from the MENU make test. God bless you
When you press the power button and if the power LED does not light up then you most likely have a faulty switch mode power supply. If you do not know how to fix it then I suggest you as a tech savy friend to help you or take it to your friendly computer repair shop.
make sure that this machine does not have switch on the pwr supply on back of pc.some times it is hard to see it. make sure there is pwr to the outlet and try different outlet. do you see any lights on back or front of pc. if not means no pwr is coming to pwr supply.
