This is caused by the paper feed wheels (small spiked metal wheels to draw the paper through the printer.) Unfortunately, there is no way I know of to fix this, but you could try using different types of photo paper.
When printing from your pc after selecting print a box will appear with several options including printer preferences. Select this and you will be able to select best photo and the type of paper being used.
The problem is waste ink around head sprayer (at (bottom plate of head). Turn of printer. Move head to center. Put wet tissue (with hot water) at head cleaning mechanic pad. Move head to parking position. wait till 10 minutes. check it. You can repeat 3 times.
If you are CERTAIN you have all the settings set correctly in the printer and driver and you are using genuine ink then should expect photo quality prints.
If the you are CERTAIN the settings are correct and the machine is in warranty you need to contact Epson for a warranty claim. They will talk you through some basic tests on the phone ( make sure you have a full of inks available) and if you experience no improvement they should exchange the machine.
